The Light I Buried for You Was My Biggest Mistake Chapter 04

Derek pulled out another phone and waved it in front of me.

On the screen were pictures of me. In the bedroom. In the shower. Private moments, captured without my knowledge.

My blood ran cold. “You…”

Derek smiled, the same tender smile he’d used when he proposed. “You never even noticed. Eyes closed, head back, and I just clicked.”

He held the phone up to the camera. “Hey everyone. Want to see what Mrs. Foster is really like behind closed doors? Pay what you want. When we hit a thousand viewers, I’ll show you.”

The chat absolutely exploded.

[Derek, you’re a legend!]

[Shut up and take my money!]

[Do it! Do it!]

[Queen’s got a secret side.]

[Money sent! Let’s go!]

The comments poured in so fast they froze the screen.

Sophie snuggled against Derek. “So this is what Lauren’s like in private?” She giggled. “Since everyone’s so excited, why not give them a live show?”

Derek tapped her chin. “Good idea.”

He looked at his men. “Hold her down. Strip her. Let everyone see exactly who she really is.”

The two guards grabbed my arms, forcing them behind my back. My shoulders burned with pain. I struggled, my bloody feet leaving smears on the road.

“Derek, don’t!” My voice cracked. “Please! No!”

The tears finally came, mixing with blood and sweat.

I’d never begged him before. Not during our cold spells. Not when he humiliated me at the office. Not when he set the dogs on me. Not even when he hit me with the pressure washer.

But this was different. It wasn’t about being seen naked. It was that the man I’d loved for six years was actually going to destroy whatever was left of my dignity.

“Derek, please. I’m begging you.”

Sophie crouched beside me, tilting her head. “Lauren, don’t fight. It only makes it worse.”

She gently wiped my tears. “Look at you. You’re so ugly when you cry. Everyone’s watching. They’re laughing.”

I tried to bite her. She pulled her hand back and stood up, smiling.

Derek raised the phone higher. The guards grabbed my collar.

I closed my eyes in despair.

Then I heard an explosion.

The phone holding those private videos blew apart in his hand.
