I Gave Them Their Show. I Gave Her My Wedding Chapter 08

On the other side, the moment the plane landed, someone took my suitcase.

A tall, handsome man extended his hand.

He was also from New York,

“Ms. Vance, I’m one of the company directors. Call me Cole.”

I shook his hand and smiled, “I didn’t expect such a young face in management.”

He grinned, “And you’re impressive too.”

“The higher-ups worked hard to bring you over. Glad you finally said yes.”

He wasn’t exaggerating. They’d sent me nine invitations.

The first time, I believed Reid’s promise-that he’d take me somewhere farther for our

honeymoon.

I turned them down for family.

The second time, I believed Reid-that he’d buy me a new house.

I turned them down again.

They kept raising the offer. But I rejected them eight times-for Reid.

On the ninth, I finally accepted.

Cole laughed, “The others said you’d turned us down eight times-no way you’d come.”

“I insisted they send one more. And you said yes.”

“Now the whole company says I’m lucky.”

I smiled, “You’re my luck too.”

“If you hadn’t sent that ninth invitation, I wouldn’t be here.”

He chuckled, “Then here’s to a good partnership.”

I agreed.

Cole took my suitcase to the car.

We chatted the whole way.

The company was big-they provided housing for every employee.

He winked, “I heard you like gardening. I saved the biggest garden for you.”

My heart skipped.

Our old house used to have a big garden too-full of roses.

Blair moved in, said they were old-fashioned, and replaced them with sunflowers,

Then she got too lazy to water them, and the whole garden dried up.

I hadn’t planted anything since.

I never thought someone would remember-and save a corner just for me.

Warmth filled my chest, “Thank you, Cole. That means a lot.”

He heard me say his name-his ears turned pink, “No problem.”

“By the way–I thought you couldn’t leave your fiancé and friends behind. What changed?”

My face stiffened.

He quickly added, “You don’t have to answer.”

I shook my head. “It’s fine.”

I told him everything.

When I finished, he slammed the seat in anger, “They’re awful. And you’re too trusting.”

I laughed at his outrage, “It wasn’t trust. It was love.”

“Love?”

His brow furrowed, like he was turning the word over in his mind.

I smiled. “You’ll understand someday.”

He looked at me thoughtfully, then smiled back,

“I think I will. I’m looking forward to it.”

The next few days were a blur.

Paperwork, meetings, getting settled.

One week later, I finally finished the last procedure.

I clutched the stack of documents and felt my heart settle.

Humming, I headed home.

Rounding the corner, someone grabbed my arm.

I looked up into a pair of tired eyes.

“Nova. I found you.”

I looked past him. Behind him stood Arlo and Mira.
