I Loved the Heir in Disguise Chapter 06

I Loved the Heir in Disguise Chapter 06

Jace froze in place, his thoughts in a complete

mess.

Picked up by her family.

She left in a helicopter.

His heart suddenly felt empty, as if a piece had

been roughly torn out.

In three years of dating, Mia had never mentioned

her family to him.

She had always been alone.

Running her flower shop alone, hauling flower

boxes alone, scrimping and saving for the wedding savings fund alone.

He had always thought she had no home to return

  1. to.

But soon, Jace shook his head wildly, denying the

nurse’s words.

Impossible.

Even if Mia’s family had really come, she would

never have left in a helicopter.

Mia loved him so much.

So sweet, so soft.

How could she bear to leave him?

With this thought, Jace immediately turned around

and headed back to the rundown studio

apartment.

But when he pushed open the chipped wooden

door, the room was empty.

No one was on the bed.

There was no old notebook she used to keep

accounts with on the small desk by the window.

Jace stood at the door, his breathing speeding up

little by little.

He looked around and suddenly realized that the

pair of couple mugs by the bed were gone.

They were the ones Mia had excitedly taken him to

a pottery shop to make with her own hands after

she got her first paycheck from the flower shop.

One had Jace written crookedly on it.

The other had Mia.

The rims were not round enough, and the color

was a little burnt.

But Mia had held those mugs as if they were

priceless treasures.

She had said.

When we get married, we’ll drink water from them

every day.”

No one is allowed to think they’re ugly.”

His heart felt like it was going to jump out of his

chest.

Jace frantically searched the entire apartment

from top to bottom.

Kitchen cabinets, bathroom shelves, under the

bed, the closet.

He even flipped open her old suitcase.

But he still could not find the pair of couple mugs.

At the same time, he saw a plain ring on the pillow.

The one that belonged to Mia.

The ring that was so cheap it was almost

worthless, but she had worn it for three whole

years.

A sharp pain shot through Jace’s heart.

The day Mia had let him put the ring on her finger

himself, she had thrown herself into his arms

happily.

Jace, even if you buy me prettier, more expensive

rings later, I will never take this one off.”

It’s a witness to our love.”

It’s my most precious treasure.”

Even later, when she had a car accident while

delivering flowers and her finger was swollen and

deformed from being caught in the car door, the

doctor told her to take off the ring to treat the

wound, but she had cried and refused.

She said that if she took the ring off, she would no

longer be his fiancée.

But now, she had left it here.

Quietly placed on the pillow.

As if she had left everything related to him behind

as well.

Jace completely panicked.

He frantically pulled out his phone and opened the

chat box with Mia.

Only then did he realize there was an unread

message from three hours ago.

It was from Mia.

Jace, let’s break up.”

Congratulations on your wedding.”

Jace felt as if he had been struck by lightning, his

mind going completely blank.

Congratulations on your wedding?

Mia knew he was getting married?

So Mia also knew that he was not really a poor

boy.

Knew he was the heir of the Kingsley family.

Knew he had been pretending to be poor and

dating her for the past three years?

His fingers trembled violently, and he could barely

hold the phone steady.

Mia, where are you?”

Let’s talk properly.”

I can explain.”

Come back, okay?”

But what responded to him was not the Mia who

always called his name sweetly.

It was a line of cold, glaring text.

Message Not Delivered.

He had been blocked.

The Mia who never ignored him, even when they

argued angrily, had blocked all his contact

information.

Jace let out two dry laughs, as if he could not

believe it, and quickly dialed Mia’s phone number.

He remembered every single digit clearly.

He did not even need to look at the contacts.

But after the call was dialed, only a cold robotic

female voice responded.

Unable to connect.

He dialed again, still unable to connect.

Mia had blocked all his contact methods.

Mia did not want him anymore.

This thought occupied his mind like a madness.

Jace let out a painful roar and immediately borrowed a neighbor’s phone to call his aide.

Find out everything NOW.”

Find out how Mia found out.”

Within half a day, I need to know where she went.”

Use everyone available at Kingsley Enterprises.”

If you can’t find her, you’re all fired.”

After hanging up the phone, Jace threw the phone at the wall in a fit of rage.

The screen shattered like a spiderweb.

But the cracked wallpaper was still a photo of him

and Mia.

It was a photo he had secretly taken the first time Mia took the initiative to kiss him.

In the photo, her eyes were closed, she was standing on tiptoes, and her cheeks were bright

red.

That kiss was very innocent.

Just a light touch before pulling away.

But in that instant, Jace’s heartbeat had raced out

of control.

Only now did Jace realize belatedly that Mia’s

scent was no longer in this room.

No more cheap floral laundry detergent she used.

No more sweet corn smell left from when she

cooked.

No more rustling sound of her pen scratching on paper as she lay on the desk counting money.

He turned his head blankly.

Moss growing in the corner of the wall.

Moldy ceiling.

And the lingering dust smell in the air.

For the past three years, he had kept Mia living in

such a place.

Clearly he had the ability to give her the best.

apartment, the best doctors, the best life.

Clearly any random expense of his could have

saved her from delivering flowers in stormy

weather, trimming rose thorns for a few dollars in tips, lying on cold clinic tables over and over

again.

But he did not.

He had trapped the girl who had given him her

whole heart here.

Lied to her, used her, hurt her.

Tears streamed down Jace’s face uncontrollably.

Why?

Why did he treat Mia so badly?

Why did he push away the only person who loved him wholeheartedly until she left completely?

A crisp slap sounded in the air.

Jace’s hand hung in midair.

Soon, it fell heavily again.

Once.

Again.

He acted as if he could not feel pain.

It was not until blood oozed from the corner of his

mouth and his cheeks burned with numbness that

he finally stopped.

Jace curled up in the cold bed.

That had been Mia’s favorite spot.

She always said the bed was too hard and hurt her

waist.

But as long as he held her, she could sleep very

soundly.

He buried his face in the pillow, almost humbly

trying to find a trace of Mia’s scent.

But there was nothing left.

He even vaguely thought this was just a

nightmare.

As long as he woke up, Mia would push the door open and come back.

She would carry a bag of discounted bread,

scrunch her nose and scold him for not turning off

the light again.

Then she would climb into his arms and whisper

softly.

Jace, when can we get married?”

But the room was silent.

Only the night wind outside the window blowing

the old window frame gently.
