The Mafia Boss Who Buried Me Alive Chapter 05
The cold red wine seeped down my neck, making me shiver violently.Â
The entire banquet hall fell dead silent. My motherÂ
and father stood frozen on the spot, their mouths open as if someone had choked them.Â
Luca was the first to snap out of it. His brows knitted into a tight knot as he looked down at the boy and scolded, “Leo! What nonsense are you talking? How can you be so rude?”Â
The little boy tilted his head up, his face full of innocence, his voice loud and clear. “Daddy, I’m not talking nonsense! Aunt Sofia showed me this bad woman’s photo. She told me this lady is a whore who only knows how to use dirty tricks to stealÂ
you away!”Â
He paused, puffing out his cheeks as he added righteously, “Hmph! I was just helping Aunt Sofia fight the bad guy! You’re mean for scolding me,Â
Daddy!”Â
With that, his mouth puckered, and he burst intoÂ
loud wails.Â
My body shook uncontrollably. I knelt down, trying to reach for his hand. “Leo, I’m your mother… I’mÂ
not a bad person…”Â
The boy violently slapped my hand away, taking two steps back. Tears still hung on his face, but his voice was piercingly sharp. “I don’t have a mother like you! Go away! I don’t want to see you!”Â
My hand hung uselessly in the air. A crushing pain. in my chest made it impossible to breathe.Â
By now, the guests had finally processed what was happening, and the room erupted into hushed.Â
whispers.Â
“What… what is going on here?”Â
Someone lowered their voice, but the hall was soÂ
quiet that every single word carried perfectly.Â
“Why would that little boy call the oldest daughter.Â
a whore?”Â
“Isn’t it obvious? An adult must have taught him.Â
How else would a kid even know what that wordÂ
means?”Â
“Wait, don’t you think something is weird?”Â
“I heard earlier that this boy was born to theÂ
younger daughter and her boyfriend. They only got their marriage certificate back then and didn’tÂ
have a ceremony, which is why they’re having thisÂ
wedding today… So why is the kid calling the brideÂ
‘Aunt Sofia‘ and the groom ‘Daddy‘?”Â
“This family dynamic is messed up…”Â
The gossip spread like wildfire. More and moreÂ
people leaned in to whisper, their eyes darting back and forth between Luca, Sofia, and me.Â
My mother’s face turned completely white. SheÂ
waved her hands frantically. “Everyone, please don’t misunderstand! The child is just talkingÂ
nonsense! He doesn’t know any better…”Â
Before she could finish, the boy abruptly stoppedÂ
crying. He wiped his tears, turned around, andÂ
pointed at my mother, then at Sofia, his voiceÂ
ringing out even louder than before.Â
“I am not talking nonsense! And I didn’t get itÂ
wrong!”Â
He turned his head, looking earnestly at Sofia.Â
“Aunt Sofia, tell them! Am I right?”Â
The air in the banquet hall felt completely suckedÂ
dry. Every single eye locked onto Sofia’s face.Â
Staring into Leo’s wide, demanding eyes, SofiaÂ
froze. Her lips trembled for a long moment beforeÂ
she managed to force out a weak response.Â
“Leo, stop talking nonsense… Be a good boy and go play over there, okay?”Â
Her voice was entirely hollow, her smile frozen like a popped balloon that could no longer hold its shape.Â
Hearing this, Leo’s face immediately fell. He threw a full tantrum, stomping his feet and pounding his fists against Sofia’s legs. “No! No! Aunt Sofia, I was clearly trying to help you and the baby brother in your tummy!”Â
“I wanted to help you drive this bad woman away. Why aren’t you sticking up for me? Everything I said is true!”Â
As he wailed, he threw up his arm and angrily tapped on his smartwatch.Â
Sofia’s voice blasted through the speaker, echoingÂ
sharply across the silent banquet hall.
