My Best Friend Stole an Heir, So I Cleared House as the Lawful Wife Chapter 04

“At your age, you still jump at shadows?” Donna Serena said, snatching the report from Nicholas’s

hand.

She scanned it without concern. A second later, her whole body shook. She looked at Vera as if she

had seen a ghost.

“Dad, Donna Serena,” Camilla said, frowning. “What aren’t you telling us? Are we still dealing with

Olivia’s pregnancy or not?”

She took the report. When she saw the small line at the bottom, she froze.

“No,” she muttered. “No, that can’t be right.”

Vera was still lost in her own dream. Seeing the three of them react like that, she laughed. She

snatched the report with total confidence and spoke in a relaxed, pitying tone.

“Mr. Moretti, Donna Serena, Camilla, you’re all better actors than I expected. Hasn’t the DNA test already been done twice? I may come from an ordinary family, but I know the rules. I know what the Family values most in a woman is purity. I’ve only ever had Damian. If the child isn’t his, whose

could he be?”

She looked at me with fake gentleness.

“Olivia, don’t be too upset. Losing because you couldn’t give him a son is pitiful, but it’s no reason

to lie in front of Don Vito’s spirit.”

Then she glanced around.

“Why do you all look like that? Is there something on the report I missed?”

She took the report from Camilla and scanned it from top to bottom. I stepped out of the car and straightened my wrinkled clothes. Since I was afraid she might not find it, I kindly helped her.

“Look lower,” I said. “Yes. The last line. Additional information. Do you see it now? If you can’t read

it, I can read it for you.”

There was no need. The report stated it clearly.

“The examined infant presents congenital abnormalities of the reproductive system, including an absence of identifiable internal and external reproductive structures. No definitive male biological characteristics are present. The infant does not meet the will’s definition of Damian Moretti’s first

son.”

The color drained from Vera’s face. She trembled as she looked at Nicholas and Donna Serena.

“Mr. Moretti, Donna Serena, what does this mean?”

Nicholas’s jaw locked so hard the muscle jumped.

“I should be asking you. What exactly did you do to the Moretti bloodline?”

Vera shook her head like a madwoman.

“No. It’s fake. It has to be fake.”

She rushed to me and grabbed the front of my clothes.

“Did you switch my report? Olivia, how can you be this vicious? You can’t give birth to a son, so you have to destroy my son’s identity?”

I shoved her away. For the first time all day, the anger lodged in my chest finally loosened.

“Dr. Miles is still here,” I said. “One look will tell him the truth.”

I gave a cold laugh.

“Give it up, Vera. A child brought into the world through theft and schemes will never stand in the

sun.”

“No. Impossible. My child is the only Moretti bloodline.”

She threw herself onto Donna Serena and gripped her arm.

“Donna Serena, you know this. Damian only has Noah.”
