She Wanted Everyone to Remember Her Birthday, So I Let Them Remember It Forever Chapter 07
“Patricia, don’t say things you can’t take back. Ophelia made a mistake, but she never meant to hurt anyone. The most important thing right now is solving the problem. What is the point of you holding a grudge against her?”
I pointed at the shattered glass covering the floor. “Solving the problem? When you kicked my door, trashed my home, and smashed my phone, was that your way of solving the problem?”
“Do you think I’m stupid? It’s blindingly obvious what’s going on between you and Ophelia. I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you, bringing your side piece right in front of your fiancée. Does that give you some kind of thrill?”
Chad dug his heels in. “You’re talking nonsense. There’s nothing going on between me and Ophelia. The only reason I did any of that was because you backed me into a corner!”
Mr. Valour interrupted him impatiently, “Save your breath. There’s a security camera right at the door. Just pull the footage-that’ll show everyone exactly what you actually did.”
The technician tapped on his laptop a few times, and the living room TV instantly flashed to life.
On the screen, Chad delivered a heavy kick to the door, roaring, “If you don’t hand over that account today, I’ll smash your door to pieces!”
Immediately after, Willow charged inside and slapped me across the face, while Chad snatched my phone and threw it violently into the corner.
The mother and son looked vicious, working together with such seamless coordination that anyone would have thought they were loan sharks collecting a debt.
Willow still tried to argue. “That’s because she was being disrespectful first! I’m her future mother-in-law, what’s wrong with teaching her a lesson?”
“Besides, my family put money into this apartment too. Now she wants to call off the wedding without giving us a single dime? In her dreams! I won’t let her take a single penny from us!”
I pulled the purchase contract and payment history straight out of the drawer, slamming them onto the coffee table.
“The down payment was paid by my parents. The mortgage is paid by me. The renovation costs were charged to my card. What exactly did you contribute? Aside from a single discounted TV, what else is there? The receipt is right here.”
Willow’s face was a mix of anger and embarrassment.
Chad, on the other hand, started to panic. “My mom was just looking out for our future together. Why do you have to keep score so strictly?”
I looked at him, my voice dripping with pure sarcasm. “Because if I didn’t keep score this strictly, wouldn’t this apartment officially belong to your family by now?”
“Have some self-respect, Chad. You’re the very first person I’ve met who takes freeloading so completely for granted!”
Just then, more shouting echoed from downstairs. An owner carrying a child rushed into the room. “Someone broke into my place! Photos of my daughter’s bedroom were leaked online! The apartment number is visible right in the video!”
Another owner also cried out in a panic. “The cash I kept at home is gone! A homeless man brought his entire family and blocked my front door, and they’re trying to unlock it! Who is going to take responsibility for this?”
Mr. Valour’s expression grew darker by the second. “Check everything. Find out exactly how this disaster happened. This is absolutely absurd!”
The technician kept digging into the system and quickly uncovered something else—it was the log history for my digital lock.
“Unauthorized device pairing request: Chad Wellington. Target Note: Ophelia Hastings. Request
Reason: Couples Pairing.”
Staring at those words, I burst into a sharp laugh.
What a perfect little ‘couples pairing.’ Taking the apartment that I bought with my own money and pairing it with another woman, only to turn around and blame me for hurting them.
How could human beings possibly be this shameless?
Ophelia completely panicked. “Chad told me you two were getting married soon, so I was just trying to help pick out some interior decor. The reason listed there is completely made up, please don’t
believe it.”
I raised my hand, cutting her off instantly. “Requesting to pair yourself with my lock without my consent is your idea of helping?”
Chad finally dropped his tough act. “Patricia, I just thought Ophelia had great taste. I wanted to give
you a surprise.”
I looked at him, my rage reaching its absolute peak.
