The Pet My Family Gave Me Was the Secret Behind Her Miracle Recovery Chapter 06
Mom and Dad stared at me in horror
The smug look on Serena’s face froze. Then she suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed
unconscious.
“Serena!” Mom and Dad screamed, rushing toward her.
Dad glared at me, his eyes full of rage.
“I knew it. You’re exactly the kind of person we feared you’d become.”
I casually pulled the knife free. The kangaroo struggled weakly before going limp, and Serena’s breathing grew shallower by the second.
I let out a cold laugh.
“Good people don’t live long, remember?”
In my previous life, I had only made it to eighteen.
Serena, on the other hand, had gotten her happy ending.
Mom let out a terrified cry and looked at me through her tears.
“Sloane… please, don’t do anything rash. Give Roo back to us, okay?”
I grinned.
“So you can use those strange Sigil Papers to save it? Or are you trying to save your precious daughter
Serena?”
Their expressions instantly changed.
Mom’s voice trembled.
“When did you find out?”
I didn’t answer.
I grabbed Roo by the fur and shook him roughly. Blood splattered across the floor
“Stop!” Mom screamed in panic. “What are you doing?! How can you be this cruel?!”
I laughed softly.
“Looks like you really do love Serena.”
To my surprise, Mom suddenly dropped to her knees.
1 froze for a moment
She was still wearing the elegant gown she’d carefully chosen for the banquet, but now her hair was a mess,
her makeup ruined by tears as she sobbed uncontrollably
Her voice shook.
“Sloane please don’t do this. This was our idea. Your father and I made this decision. Don’t take it out on
Serena She’s still so young…”
She broke down completely.
“I’m begging you.”
I had already accepted that they didn’t love me.
But I still couldn’t let it go.
How could she do this for Serena?
She could sacrifice me without hesitation. She could throw away her pride and dignity, all for Serena.
Was this what parents were supposed to be?
I didn’t know.
Whenever I thought of the word “parents,” all I remembered were my adoptive parents‘ fists, the endless abuse, my own helpless crying, and the vicious insults that filled our house.
And now, standing in front of me, were my biological parents, desperately protecting the girl who had stolen more than a decade of my life.
Dad held Serena tightly in his arms. His hands trembled from fear.
His eyes were red when he looked at me.
“Stop this! If you hate someone, hate me! Serena has nothing to do with this! You’re trying to kill her!”
I snapped back to reality and let out a mocking laugh.
“So what? Was I supposed to quietly let you kill me instead?”
They both fell silent.
Mom’s lips trembled violently as tears streamed down her face.
Dad clenched his jaw.
“As long as you listen to us right now, you can have whatever you want.”
“Really?” I asked. “You’d do anything for her?”
“Yes”
His answer came without hesitation
“She’s my daughter”
I laughed
Actually laughed
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.
Then I looked straight at them and said each word slowly.
“In that case, I want everything.”
The entire family fortune.
Every company, every investment, every property under the Lin family name.
Silence filled the room.
Dad exploded.
“That’s outrageous!”
I sneered and pointed the fruit knife toward Roo.
“This kangaroo really is tough. But what do you think would happen if I drove this knife straight through its
heart?”
