The 100 Rules Dating the Male Lead Chapter 08
He didn’t try to add me back like before.
I went to class as usual, did my part–time gig sometimes.
The gifts Caspian gave me while chasing me? I sold them all. Legit reason: heartbreak.
Luxury goods don’t do much for someone from a regular family. Cash is better.
I wasn’t hiding it from him either. Good thing too, because the bullet comments told me he was the buyer. I rinsed him.
[A gift from someone I like. But he doesn’t want me anymore.]
Useless presents turned into a cool million in
cash.
Seraphina didn’t rush to go after Caspian.
She wasn’t dumb enough to play therapist, since
she was one of the main reasons for the mess.
So she just kept watching me.
Around this time, news spread that Caspian had been dumped.
Given how much he cares about face, he definitely
wasn’t the one spreading it.
Seraphina stared at me.
“Aren’t you mad?”
After a second, she went on, “I guess I don’t like
him as much as I thought. Besides the face and the money, he’s not even as good as my cousin.”
“Our families have been talking about a marriage
alliance anyway. I lied to you before, so I’ll be straight with you now.”
This female lead really knows how to talk with a
knife smile.
All faux–relaxed, trying to poke at me.
I finished organizing my desk and said dryly, “Your
cousin’s in love with you, of course he treats you
well.”
Seraphina frowned. That kind of thing is
scandalous in rich families.
She’s all about image. She snapped, “Elowen, don’t
make things up.”
“That is absolutely not happening.”
I shot back, “Come on, you can’t be that blind.
Lysander treats you better than he’s ever treated
any of his girlfriends. Relax, you’re not
blood–related. Once he finds that out, he’ll stop
dating around.”
“As for you and Caspian’s marriage alliance, isn’t it
practically set? Why keep telling me about it?
Unless you’re not that confident in your own
carefully planned engagement?”
Seraphina’s expression grew dark.
Because I was right.
It’s obvious when Caspian likes someone.
Right now, he couldn’t care less about what
Seraphina likes, but before, he used to know
everything.
Bullet comments were spamming question marks: [Does the side chick have some kinda foresight? How is she so spot on?]
[No idea what’s going on in the male lead’s head. Feels like he can’t let go of the side chick, but he’s
not saying no to the alliance either. He just stares at her chat log all day, I dunno what he’s looking for.】
[He can’t be stupid enough to use the alliance just to make the side chick jealous, right? That
won’t work on her at all.]
【Am I the only one wondering why nobody’s
given the side chick her two million hush fee
yet…]
Seeing the mention of two million, I looked at
Seraphina and said slowly, “You know, you could
just pay me off to stay away from Caspian.”
“You get the guy, I get the money. Win–win.”
Seraphina’s pride wouldn’t let her. “I wouldn’t stoop
to that. Once the alliance is set, you two have no
future. Caspian’s parents would never allow it
anyway.”
I added, “Fifty grand buys me a month of not
adding him back.”
Then I opened my secondhand selling page.
“Caspian just bought this.”
Seraphina knew the price. She could see that
Caspian was basically losing money on everything he bought from me. The cool composure she’d been faking was gone.
It’d take at least a while for the engagement to get
finalized.
She gritted her teeth. “Elowen, I seriously
underestimated you!”
After watching me for days,
she realized something.
I really just didn’t like Caspian.
She even suspected I revealed the bet on purpose.
But she couldn’t prove it.
“Aren’t you scared I’ll tell Caspian what you said
today?”
I replied calmly, “Be my guest.”
Seraphina couldn’t stay in the dorm anymore. She
stormed out again.
She bought one month first.
The bullet comments said there was zero
progress in their relationship.
Then Seraphina paid for a second month.
I replied: [Thanks for the subscription.]
The female lead blocked me.
Lysander found out he wasn’t actually related to
Seraphina earlier than in the original story, so he
started chasing her early.
It just pissed off the proud Seraphina.
When someone found out Lysander was chasing
her and rumors started, she cut him off
completely.
Bullet comments: [Who anonymously told
Lysander they’re not blood–related?]
[Lysander’s exes are all attacking him for being. emotionally abusive.]
I quietly cleared my chat history.
Turns out I hold a grudge too.
I didn’t see the male lead for a long time.
But the comments said he was always looking at
our old chat.
After I confirmed he wasn’t about to blast me
online, I relaxed.
My family’s strict.
Maybe after eighteen years of being forced into the ‘good girl‘ role, my rebellious streak is just coming out late.
The male lead’s the same way, actually. Strict
parents, so he’s always been rebellious.
Thinking about him, I scoffed and shook my head,
trying to clear my thoughts.
Greed gets you nothing.
You can’t get emotional support and money
forever without giving anything back.
I went to the cafeteria, got hit on by some
greasy–looking dude.
I didn’t want to engage, but it was lunch rush,
nowhere else to sit.
The guy plopped down across from me, smirking
even when I said no.
I was getting annoyed.
Was about to say something when I heard a chair
scrape loudly behind me.
Caspian scowled at us, then planted himself right
next to me.
