He Drugged Me On Our Wedding Day And Married His Ex Instead Chapter 03

After leaving the hospital, I stored some of my luggage at a locker service.

By the time I got back home, Grant had already returned.

Sabrina walked up to me, acting like she owned the place.

“Emily, there aren’t any slippers left. Just use the disposable ones.”

I lowered my gaze to see my slippers on her feet.

Grant had bought them for me because my feet were small—size 5.

Sabrina’s heels were half hanging out.

They didn’t fit at all, but she wore them on purpose, right in front of me, just to disgust me.

I glanced further inside.

Grant and his friends were gaming, completely ignoring everything.

I said nothing and bent down to change into the disposable slippers.

The moment I stepped into the entryway, a cold draft hit me.

I sneezed three times in a row.

So the air conditioner had been lowered from 77°F to 64°F.

Grant finally noticed. He took the remote from my hand.

“She runs hot. She can’t handle it if it’s higher.”

“Just bear with it.”

His tone sounded polite, but his action left no room for argument.

Then he turned back to his game.

Sabrina glanced at me lightly, scoffed, and joined them.

From beginning to end, no one looked at me.

I stood there like I didn’t belong, like I was just… outside of everything.

A chill ran through me. Then I asked, “How long do I have to bear it?”

The game noise stopped.

Grant turned toward me, irritation flashing across his face.

“Two hours max. Put on more clothes.”

“But I have allergic rhinitis. I can’t handle this.”

“That’s your problem.”

He gripped the controller harder, like he wanted to break it in half.

The room went awkwardly quiet.

The others exchanged glances and tried to ease the tension.

“Emily, just go wait in the bedroom. You can adjust the temperature there. We’ll be leaving soon anyway.”

I nodded and walked into the bedroom.

The moment the door closed, laughter broke out outside.

“Why are you even trying to appease her? Didn’t you see Grant doesn’t even care?”

“She kind of looks pathetic.”

“Pity is for people who don’t deserve it. I hate this kind of dramatic behavior.”

“Exactly. Acting all high and mighty, but look at her—can she even leave Grant?”

“No joke, I’ve never seen anyone more good at playing submissive than Emily Bennett. Ha-ha.”

They mocked me openly, and Grant said nothing, which meant… he agreed with them.

I checked the time—Monday was tomorrow.

I pulled out my last piece of luggage and walked out.

The laughter froze instantly.

Grant’s face darkened. “You really have to be like this? Just because I didn’t adjust the temperature?”

Sabrina stood up, eyes slightly red.

“It’s my fault. Emily, you don’t have to leave. I’ll go.”

But before she could move, Grant shot up.

“Don’t move. If she wants to leave, let her.”

His friends were clearly done with me too.

One of them snapped impatiently. “Seriously? Is this really worth a tantrum?”

“Does she think she owns the place? Who’s actually listening to her?”

“No wonder she’s an orphan. Who could stand someone like that?”

I froze.

The words hit hard, sharp and humiliating.

I swallowed the sting and slowly turned to Grant.

He looked dark, unmoved.

Then he said, word by word, “If you walk out, don’t come back.”

Even now, his first reaction was still a threat.

I didn’t know if I felt relief or something colder. Maybe both.

I let out a faint laugh and walked out.

The door slammed behind me.

A loud crash followed—Grant had smashed his favorite game console to pieces.
