Eight Years As His Secret Lover, I Married The Top Mafia Don Next Saturday Chapter 01
I ended up in bed with Slytherin Moretti, my best friend’s older brother, after a night of drinking.
Eight years into our hidden relationship, the elders of the Colombo family forced me into an arranged marriage.
“Slytherin, the family gave me an ultimatum. I have to finalize this marriage by the end of the year.”
He paused for a moment and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead.
He gave me the same hollow line as always. “Just wait a little longer.”
Minutes later, I scrolled across a new post on social media from Bella, who had only recently become an Associate of the Moretti family.
The photo showed her and Slytherin holding an official marriage license they’d applied for online. Her caption read: Don Moretti. Mine.
He’d refused to give me a title for eight years, yet Bella had earned it in just three months.
I pushed down the sharp ache in my chest and liked the post.
I left a comment beneath it. [Congratulations. May your union be blessed by the family.]
Right after that, I agreed without hesitation to the arranged marriage set up by my family.
My phone rang the next second.
Slytherin’s voice came through the receiver, panicked in a way I’d never heard before.
“Sabrina, don’t get the wrong idea. I lost a bet with my men, that’s the only reason we applied for that license…”
I cut him off cold.
“Slytherin, I’m getting married.”
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the line.
Annoyance laced his words, and faint laughter from other women echoed in the background.
“Here we go again.”
“You’re just desperate to become a Donna? The family’s business is falling apart. Can you stop playing these silly games?”
I stood in the bitter wind outside Ridgewood, my tone calm despite the chill around me.
“I’m not playing. I’m really getting married.”
He let out a mocking laugh, as if I’d told the funniest joke in the world.
“What other family could you possibly secure an alliance with? The ghost family?”
I was about to name Lucius Gambino from Midtown Manhattan’s powerful Gambino family.
He rushed to end the call before I could speak. “I’ve got urgent business to handle. That license was just a stupid bet. Don’t overthink it.”
The line went dead with a steady dial tone.
I stared at the dark screen, my fingertips growing numb with cold.
Eight long years.
And once again, all I got from him was “Don’t overthink it.”
The next day, I carried two bottles of champagne into the Moretti family’s headquarters building.
The top-floor office was loud and bustling. A crowd of secretaries surrounded Bella, who wore a shy smile on her face.
“Bella, you’re incredible! Don Moretti is always so cold, but you won him over in just three months!”
“You’ll be the Moretti family’s Donna soon. Please look out for us all!”
Bella pretended to hide her face in embarrassment, raising her voice so everyone in the room could hear her.
“Don’t say that. We only applied for the license because we lost a bet. Please keep this between us.”
I let out a cold snort.
She’d posted the proof publicly for the whole world to see, yet she acted like it was a secret.
Bella spotted the champagne in my hands and hurried over in her high heels, looping her arm naturally through mine.
“Capo! Did Don ask you to bring this champagne for us? Thank you so much!”
I opened my mouth to tell her the champagne wasn’t from Slytherin.
She snatched the bottles from my grasp before I could speak, tore off the wrapping, and told a secretary to grab wine glasses.
“Everyone, taste this! Don picked out this fine French champagne specially!”
The staff thanked him one after another, gushing about how romantic Slytherin was toward her.
Slytherin stepped out of the elevator just then.
The entire room chorused their thanks for his champagne.
Bella stole shy glances at him, her expression soft and girlish.
Slytherin froze for a second, then wore a gentle smile. “I’m glad you all enjoy it.”
“The champagne was bought by me!”
I spoke up sharply, and the entire office fell dead silent.
Every pair of eyes locked onto my face.
Slytherin’s expression turned dark, and a flicker of unease crossed his features.
“Sabrina, this is Moretti territory. Don’t cause a scene here.”
“I’m not causing anything.” I met his gaze steadily. “I brought this champagne for everyone. And I’m getting married next Saturday.”
His face clouded over like a sky moments before a violent storm. He strode over to me and lowered his voice.
“Do you have to embarrass me like this?”
Someone nearby let out a sneering laugh.
“Does Sabrina even have a partner? She’s just jealous that Bella is going to marry Don. She’s lost her mind.”
Bella’s eyes welled up instantly. She bit her lip, looking utterly wronged.
“Capo, I know you once had feelings for Don, but he never felt the same way. Don already cleared up all those rumors about the two of you.”
Everyone in the room now saw me as a bitter loser.
I turned to Slytherin, hoping he would say one word to defend my reputation.
But he simply looked away, his gaze drifting toward the windows.
