My Husband Said I Was Fake So I’d Learn To Be Obedient Chapter 02

By the time I was kicked out of the house, a light snow had begun to fall outside.

Adrian did not follow me out, so Chloe dropped the act at once.

She held the baby clothes high in the air, her face twisted with smug satisfaction.

“Evie, you’re a fake heiress and a homewrecker trying to steal someone else’s husband. What makes you think you deserve to have Adrian’s child?”

I opened my mouth, but no words came out.

Everyone knew I was the real Bennett daughter. Everyone knew I was Adrian’s lawful wife. But none of them wanted to make room for me, so they had forged every document they needed to erase me.

Even after I overheard the truth at the hospital, it changed nothing. There was no place for me in that family anymore.

I gave a bitter, self-mocking smile and dragged my suitcase away from the villa without looking back.

I had not gone far when Chloe sent me a recording.

In it, her voice was dripping with fake concern.

“Adrian, are we being too hard on Evie?”

Adrian let out a cold laugh. “Chloe, you’re too kind. If Evelyn had even half your generosity, things wouldn’t have come to this.”

“I used to think she was sensible. But after we got married, she was either checking up on me or following me around. She would throw a fit if I so much as looked at another woman.”

“If I don’t break that pride of hers completely, she’ll never learn. Once she realizes she was wrong, I’ll bring her back.”

Chloe sounded worried. “But Adrian, aren’t you afraid she’ll really get angry and refuse to come back?”

Adrian scoffed without hesitation.

“She won’t. When we were kids, she was willing to risk her life to save me. How could she ever really leave me?”

At some point, the snow had started falling harder.

I stood frozen in place, my fingers trembling uncontrollably as I clutched my phone.

He was right. Once, I had been willing to risk my life for Adrian.

Because every time my parents favored Chloe, he was the one who stood beside me.

He replaced the toys, cakes, and gifts Chloe had taken from me. He held my hand and promised me that he would always believe me, that he would never let Chloe bully me again.

But all of that slowly changed after Chloe showed up at our wedding. By the time I snapped out of it, I had already walked into a rental agency.

With nowhere else to go, I could only try to rent an apartment. But after running my information, the agent said, “Miss, your accounts have been frozen.”

Cold wind slipped under my collar. I took out my phone and called a friend. It rang seven or eight times before she answered.

“I’m in a bit of trouble right now. Could you lend me…”

Before I could finish, she cut me off.

“Evelyn, don’t blame me for not helping you. Adrian already posted in the group chat.”

“He said you’re a fake heiress who came between him and your sister. Anyone who helps you is going against him.”

There was a two-second silence on the other end.

“Evelyn, I don’t know what’s true and what isn’t, but please don’t contact me again.”

Then the line went dead.

Unwilling to give up, I made three more calls. One person said she was overseas. Another hung up immediately.

The last one answered, only to ask whether I had really stolen my sister’s baby clothes.

Because Chloe had posted a tearful video on Instagram, along with the caption:

[Evie, even if you don’t like me, please don’t hurt my baby.]

There were more than a hundred comments underneath, and every single one was tearing me apart.

The December wind cut into my bones like a blade.

I dragged my suitcase through the streets with no destination in mind, until I finally sat down at a bus stop.

I did not know how long had passed before a black Bentley slowly pulled up in front of me.

The window rolled down, revealing Adrian’s coldly handsome face.

He looked at me, shivering in the snow, and froze for a moment. Then his brows drew together.

“Evelyn, are you an idiot? It’s snowing this hard, and you didn’t think to find somewhere to stay?”
