My Best Friend Had a Baby to Inherit Riches, I Exposed Her Chapter 03

The air froze, the room so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Garrett’s father slammed his cane into the floor, his face turning crimson with rage.

“Throw her out! I am done looking at this psycho!”

Two security guards lunged forward, grabbing my arms.

Suppressing my fury, I violently wrenched myself free.

“Don’t touch me. I’m pregnant.”

I whipped out my medical report from my bag.

The black ink on white paper was undeniable: [Pregnancy confirmed. Twelve weeks.]

Garrett’s parents exchanged a look and burst into mocking laughter.

Abby snatched the medical report, scanning it for a few seconds before letting out a sharp giggle.

“So what if you’re pregnant?”

“You’re barely three months along. You don’t even know if it’s a boy or a girl.”

“What makes you think you can compete with my son Toby for the inheritance?”

“Today, I am going to make you face the reality of the will.”

Half an hour later, a sleek sedan pulled up, and the family lawyer stepped out carrying a briefcase.

Every eye in the room locked onto him.

He walked to the center of the hall, pulled the document from his briefcase, and read it aloud, his words echoing through the room.

“Being of sound mind and body, the testator wishes to state his final terms.”

“The testator hereby leaves the entirety of his estate to the biological mother of Garrett’s firstborn son.”

Abby triumphantly snatched the copy of the will, shoving it directly into my face.

“Did you hear that? The mother of the firstborn son!”

“Even if you give birth to a boy later, he’ll just be shining my son’s shoes!”

The looks Garrett’s parents gave me felt like daggers to the heart.

“I heard it. Loud and clear.”

I stared at the short line of text, my eyes lingering on “the biological mother of Garrett’s firstborn son”.

Then I looked up at Abby’s smug face.

“Once you fail to get the inheritance, let’s see how long you keep that smile.”

Garrett’s mother comforted Abby, while Garrett’s father jabbed his finger aggressively at my face.

“How can your heart be so black? You curse Abby just because you were barren.”

“Did you want the family lineage to die out with you to be satisfied?”

“This is Old Mr. Sterling’s final will! It’s not a game!”

Garrett’s sister walked over, putting on a fake show of pity.

“It’s bad enough you were out fooling around behind Garrett’s back, but this is family legacy. You don’t get to ruin it.”

“No matter how jealous you are of Abby, you shouldn’t be this malicious.”

Word by word, they assassinated my character, painting me as a toxic, bitter wife.

The whispers of the crowd flooded my ears.

“Exactly. Now that Garrett has a son, who knows where his heart will land.”

“The Sterlings treated Audrey like a real daughter, and she was out sleeping around.”

“She should sign the divorce papers right now!”

My fists clenched so hard my knuckles turned white.

After a long pause, I pulled out my phone and dialed our family physician.

“Dr. Miller, bring your full diagnostic equipment to the funeral home immediately. I need you to run a complete check on Abby’s baby.”
