Hearing My Husband’s Secret Thoughts, and Let Karma Find Him Chapter 07
I returned to the Apex Group headquarters.
All of the company’s executives were lined up in the lobby.
News that Ryan had been arrested and Summer had been taken down had already spread everywhere.
The board members who had once switched sides
to flatter Ryan all stood there with their heads lowered, staring at the floor and not daring to make a sound.
I strode into the conference room and slapped a stack of termination notices onto the table.
“When I call your name, you have three minutes to pack your things and get out.”
“Security, watch them closely. If anyone dares to take so much as one extra sheet of company paper, call the police.”
It took me one day to completely clear out the people Ryan had planted inside the company and take power back into my own hands.
Just as I was preparing to hold a global summit
and launch our new product, something went.
wrong.
Less than three days after his arrest, Ryan was
released on bail.
The person who bailed him out was my aunt.
She had heard that Apex Group was in trouble and
thought she had found an opportunity.
She sold three luxury homes in her name and her
shares in the company, scraped together the bail
money, and got him out.
She had been fooled.
She thought that as long as Ryan was released,
she could use his status as acting CEO to seize
Apex.
Ryan, meanwhile, was being chased everywhere
by loan sharks.
He knew he couldn’t beat me in the real world, so
he started trying to destroy me online through a
smear campaign.
Two days later, a maliciously edited video spread
across the internet and shot to No. 1 on X’s
trending list.
In the video, Ryan’s face was covered in stubble,
and his eyes were red.
He cried into the camera as he spoke.
“I, Ryan Lawson, came from a poor rural background. For the past three years, I worked like
a servant for the Sullivan family.”
“I created billions in profit for Apex Group.”
“But just because my wife, Tessa Sullivan, fell for some boy toy, she teamed up with outsiders to
transfer company assets.”
“She forged a debt contract and made me take the fall for a $700 million disaster.”
“She even cruelly stopped her own father’s
treatment just to get her inheritance sooner.”
Immediately after that, my aunt appeared in the
video.
She kept wiping her tears as she accused me.
“Tessa is a monster. She has been cold–blooded
since she was a child. She drove her own father
into the ICU.”
“Now she’s trying to drive my poor nephew–in–law
to his death!”
Even Ryan’s mother, with one leg broken and bruises all over her face, was dragged out to
speak.
“She starved me, made me sleep in a doghouse, and had people break my leg!”
“Billionaire heiresses these days are completely heartless!”
The video instantly triggered a wave of anti–rich
outrage across the internet.
Plenty of people were incited by that kind of story.
The live comments and comment sections were full of insults.
[Holy shit. That is evil. She’s a monster.]
[Boycott Apex Group. Investigate that vicious
woman Tessa.]
[She actually stopped her own father’s treatment? Why isn’t someone like that on death row?]
[Mr. Lawson is so miserable. He was bled dry by an ungrateful leech. I support Mr. Lawson taking the company back.]
My phone number was leaked, and death threats
flooded in by the second.
The company’s official website was hacked and
covered in images of dead rats.
Apex stock plunged so fast that trading was
halted within ten minutes of the market opening.
Ryan hid in a basement, watching the collapsing
stock price and the internet–wide condemnation.
as he laughed.
[Hahaha! Tessa, you think money makes you untouchable? I’m going to bury you under public outrage.]
[When you can’t take the pressure anymore and come begging me, I’ll make you kneel and transfer‘ all your shares to me.]
My office door was pushed open.
My secretary ran in, wiping sweat from her
forehead.
“Ms. Sullivan, we can’t contain this anymore. The backlash online has completely spiraled out of
control.”
“Many partners are demanding to terminate their
contracts. Dozens of media outlets have said
they’re coming to tomorrow’s Global Al Summit to
protest in person.”
I sat in my chair, looking at Ryan’s face on the
screen.
Casually, I swirled the red wine in my glass.
“What are you panicking for?”
I took a sip.
“It’s just a clown’s little circus. Since he likes.
standing in the spotlight so much, “I’ll build him.
the most spectacular guillotine in front of the
entire world.”
“Go. Notify every media outlet that tomorrow’s
Global Al Summit will proceed as scheduled.”
“And open a global livestream across every
platform in the highest resolution available. No
one is to stop anyone from watching.”
I wanted this to get even bigger.
