Hearing My Husband’s Secret Thoughts, and Let Karma Find Him Chapter 05
Ryan’s smile vanished. Frowning hard, he flipped
to the last page of the contract.
Before he could read the words clearly, the mansion’s front door was pushed open.
A dozen police officers and several debt collectors rushed into the hall at the same time.
The lead officer walked up to Ryan, took out a pair of handcuffs, and locked them around his wrists.
“You’re Ryan Lawson?”
The officer looked at him.
“Based on our investigation, you are suspected of forging company authorization documents, embezzling corporate funds, and being in severe default on $700 million in overseas loan–shark debt. Since you just signed the Corporate Sole–Liability Acknowledgment, you are now listed as the sole primary suspect. Take him away.”
The metal handcuffs bit tight around Ryan’s
wrists.
His whole body jolted. He stared at the lead officer
and shouted, “You’ve got the wrong person! What
loan–shark debt? What liability acknowledgment?”
“I’m Apex Group’s acting CEO. My wife is the
registered officer. Arrest her!”
The lead officer glanced at him coldly.
Then he pulled a document out of his briefcase
and shoved it right in Ryan’s face.
“Open your damn eyes and read it!”
“This Absolute Corporate Debt Transfer and
Voluntary Marital–Property Waiver Agreement.
states it in black and white: you, Ryan Lawson,
voluntarily assume the principal and interest on
the $700 million overdue loan–shark debt incurred
by Apex Group’s overseas subsidiary, and in
exchange, you waive every marital–property claim
and walk away with nothing. The signature and
fingerprint on it are yours. Are you saying you
didn’t just press them there?”
“No! That’s impossible!”
Ryan thrashed with all his strength, his eyes
bulging as he looked at the contract on the floor.
“That contract clearly had Tessa’s name on it! It
was supposed to make her take the debt!”
“It was Tessa! She set me up!”
I stood a few yards away, watching him lose his mind, and laughed out loud.
“Honey, when you sign contracts at the company, do you never check the thickness of the paper?”
Ryan’s entire body stiffened. He whipped his head
around and stared at me.
I walked up to him, stepped on the pregnancy test
report, and lowered my voice.
“The forged debt–transfer agreement you handed me was printed on paper treated with a special
heat–soluble coating.“.
“was the real document I had custom–made for
you: a full–liability agreement that also forced your
to waive every marital–property claim and walk
away with nothing.”
“Just now, when my hands were trembling and I
pressed my fingerprint down hard, the chemicals
in the special ink passed through the first sheet
perfectly and transferred the print onto the
second.”
“As for the scrap of paper on top with my name on
it…”
I lifted my hand and made a small gesture.
“After I signed, my body heat and the friction from
my fingers made the writing evaporate
completely.”
“You… you knew from the beginning?”
Ryan’s lips trembled violently, and his body shrank
back on instinct.
[How could this happen? How could this stupid
woman possibly know all of this?]
[It’s over. $700 million. The loan sharks are going
to chop me into pieces.]
Hearing his thoughts, I smirked.
“What else did you think? That a few chickens and
some ruined clothes would make me lose my
mind?”
“Ryan, of all the things you could have done, you should never have used my father’s life to test the
one line I would never let you cross.”
“Take him away.”
With one wave from the officer, several police officers dragged Ryan, whose whole body had gone limp, toward the door.
“Wait.”
I stopped the police and turned toward Summer,
who was trembling in the corner of the sofa.
“Officer, since you’re making arrests anyway, you
might as well take an accomplice too.”
I took a USB drive out of my pocket.
“On this drive is the complete transaction record
showing how Summer used her position as chief
financial officer to transfer $12 million in
corporate funds from Apex Group’s U.S. accounts.
into her private offshore account in twenty–three
separate transactions.”
“Also, the pink diamond necklace around her neck. is a rare collector’s piece that was stolen from
me.”
“It’s worth $15 million.”
“The amount involved is enormous. I’d say she’s
looking at at least ten years, easy.”
Summer screamed. She clutched her neck with
both hands and crawled straight to my feet.
“Mrs. Lawson! Ms. Sullivan! I was forced!”
“Ryan forced me to do all of it!”
“He forced me into this pregnancy too. Please, I’m
begging you. Let me go!”
When Ryan heard her, his eyes went wide. He
kicked Summer hard in the stomach.
“You bitch! You were the one who seduced me!”
“You blew every dollar you transferred, and now
you’re trying to turn on me?”
Summer fell to the floor clutching her stomach.
Then she scrambled forward on all fours and
clawed at Ryan’s face.
“You useless piece of trash! You couldn’t even handle one woman, and you still wanted to marry
into an heiress’s family and bleed it dry? I’ll scratch
your face off!”
By then, both of them were covered in blood, wrestling on the floor.
I took two steps back and watched as the police forcibly separated the pair and shoved them into
police cars.
But this was only the beginning.
