Hearing My Husband’s Secret Thoughts, and Let Karma Find Him Chapter 03

To make Ryan lower his guard, I began pretending to have a mental breakdown.

I didn’t ask him about the company.

Instead, I voluntarily handed him the safe key, my digital authorization token, and several agreements for shares held through nominees.

The day Ryan took the authorization token, his hands trembled.

[Hahaha! This stupid woman has finally accepted her fate. All of Apex is mine now!]

The next day, he promoted Summer to chief financial officer of the group.

My inside source sent photos. The two of them were holding each other in the executive office, with Summer sitting directly on Ryan’s lap while approving documents.

Back at the mansion, Ryan’s mother had started raising those live chickens on the lawn.

One day, when I came downstairs, I saw her holding a large pair of scissors and cutting up my clothes.

“Mom, what are you doing?” I asked, gripping the stair railing.

“Oh, this fabric is nice and soft. I’m cutting it up to make sweat-absorbing shoe inserts for my son.”

She didn’t even look up.

“What? These clothes were bought with my son’s money. Why can’t I cut them?”

She knew perfectly well that I had stomach problems, but she deliberately ordered the kitchen to make greasy, spicy food for every meal.

The second I frowned, she called me dramatic and said I didn’t deserve to eat food paid for by the Lawson family.

That night, Ryan came home and saw the scraps of fabric all over the floor and me clutching my stomach. He walked over and asked me a couple of perfunctory questions.

[My mom did a great job. It was about time someone beat that spoiled-heiress attitude out of her. Seeing her half-dead like this feels so damn satisfying.]

I looked at him without any expression.

That weekend, Summer came to the mansion with some documents.

She deliberately tugged her collar lower, revealing the hickeys along her collarbone.

Around her neck was a pink diamond necklace, the one my father had given me for my eighteenth birthday.

Ryan had taken it two days earlier under the excuse of having it cleaned and maintained.

Summer handed me the documents.

“Mrs. Lawson, Mr. Lawson has been under a lot of pressure lately. If you can’t help him, the least you can do is stop making trouble for him.”

I took a deep breath and grabbed her hand.

My eyes were red, and my voice shook with tears.

“Summer, I know you’re a good person. My father collapsed, and I don’t understand anything right now. Ryan has to rely on you. Please help him more. I’ll do anything…”

Summer froze and took half a step back. Then she lifted her chin, the corner of her mouth curving upward.

She exchanged a look with Ryan, and the two of them were sure I had become completely useless.

Late that night, I sat alone in the study and booted up my hidden computer.

An overseas source sent me a message. The failed venture Ryan had invested in had blown up, and the person in charge had run off with the money.

With interest added to the loan-shark debt, the amount had snowballed into an astronomical sum. He could no longer pay it back.

I hit Enter and used my superuser access to cut off all access to Apex Group’s core data and commercial licensing rights.

Without them, Apex Group would become nothing but an empty shell full of debt by tomorrow.

I lifted my glass, took a sip of red wine, and shut the computer down.
