Charging My Wife by the Hour Chapter 08

Charging My Wife by the Hour Chapter 08

I spun around, only to realize Victor had gotten out of the car at some point. He tugged at the corner of my shirt, looking lost.

Vivian paled. “What are you on about, Vic? I’m your mom! Are you saying that because you’re still mad at

me?

“I was wrong, Vic. Please forgive me!”

Victor took a step back. “Ma’am, my mom died a long time ago; she even appeared in my dream to watch

over me during my surgery. How could you possibly be my mom?”

“You heard him. Get the hell out of here, and don’t you dare trigger my son!”

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she parted her lips. However, she ultimately left, looking utterly

heartbroken and lost. She left before I could call the cops.

Unfortunately, she still refused to give up.

I took some time off from work and drove Victor to and from school every day, not daring to let him out of my sight for even a second. That night, while I was blow-drying Victor’s hair, he suddenly said, “Daddy, why does Eleanor’s mom keep showing up near my school? Does she not want Eleanor anymore?”

I instantly grew wary. “She didn’t come near you, did she? Did she say anything strange to you?”

Victor shook his head. “The teachers at school know she’s not my mom, so every time she shows up, they

chase her away. But when she came today, she left an action figure at the gate and walked away. It’s the

kind that can talk and move its arms and legs!”

My heart missed a beat. That was the same model as the figurine Vivian had once given Victor.

“Did you bring it home?” I asked anxiously.

That was the figurine Victor couldn’t bear to part with when he was trying to save up to rent an hour of

Vivian’s time, the one Eleanor ended up breaking. I was dead scared that this toy would bring all those

horrific memories back for him.

Victor, however, just shook his head. “Why would I bring it home? I’m a big boy now. I outgrew action figures a long time ago!

“I’m just curious. Why is Eleanor’s mom trying so hard to please me? Does she not want Eleanor anymore?

I turned off the hair dryer in my hand. “What if she brings a toy you actually like? Would you want to become close with her then?”

Victor instantly pouted and burrowed into my arms grumpily. “Daddy, why are you asking such a strange question? Do you really think I’m that easily bought off? That lady isn’t my mom at all. There’s no way I’d

ever want to be close to her!”

After taking in Victor’s huffy expression, I completely set my mind at ease. After that day, Victor said he

never saw Vivian again. It seemed the school teachers had called the cops.

Vivian was deported and was never allowed to enter the country again. Victor’s and my lives had finally

returned to normal.

A year later, it was time for Victor’s follow-up appointment. Right as we reached the hospital, my domestic SIM card suddenly received an incoming call. To my surprise, it was a lawyer notifying me that

Crowell Group had transferred 20% of its shares to Victor’s name.

After I hung up the phone, a barrage of news articles popped up on my screen. I hadn’t paid attention to

anything back home for a year now.

I casually scrolled through them. The audio recording of Elliot that I had sold to the media last year had kept his name pinned to the trending list for quite a while. The hashtags following his name were words like “kept man”, “vicious”, and “boy toy”.

His residence was exposed. Every day, large crowds gathered, throwing rotten vegetables and splashing red paint all over his front door. His scandal also caused Crowell Group’s stock to plummet. The board also voted to demote Vivian, completely sidelining her and stripping away all her authority.

Having bitten his tongue for over half a year, Elliot realized he was getting absolutely nothing out of this, yet he was still expected to take this humiliation lying down. In a fit of rage, he took Eleanor and stormed straight into the Crowell residence.

He threatened Vivian’s grandmother, Dorothy Ellis. “Victor’s dead. Eleanor’s the only remaining descendant of your family. Either let Vivian marry me or give me a sum of money. If not, I’ll expose

everything!”

Dorothy had someone take Eleanor for a paternity test. The report revealed that Eleanor wasn’t Vivian’s daughter at all.

Elliot was completely dumbfounded. “How is this possible? I personally sent Vivian into the delivery

room back then!”

Vivian didn’t utter a word, allowing Dorothy to have Elliot locked up on charges of extortion and blackmail. Eleanor, on the other hand, was sent to an orphanage. To this day, no one had adopted her.

Karma was a bitch. I didn’t return the shares. Victor deserved them, after all.
