I Slapped the Villain After 99 Rebirths Chapter 05

I Slapped the Villain After 99 Rebirths Chapter 05

“What, you’re this happy over such a little money? Doesn’t future me, doesn’t I, give you enough? You look so pathetic and broke.”

Fine. He’s generous enough to make up for the insult, so I wasn’t mad.

I jogged off, grabbed a bottle of water, and handed it to Joseph.

His face darkened. “This is your idea of bringing me a drink?”

“It’s so hot in here. Going all the way to the other side would take forever.”

“Besides, I don’t want to miss you playing. You look so hot out there!”

I twisted off the cap. “See? Same thing as handing it to you, right?”

Joseph looked at my smile, then took the water with a feigned reluctance and drank some.

I thoughtfully offered him a tissue.

He touched the towel around his neck. “No thanks.”

Fine by me. Saves me a few tissues.

I wouldn’t have offered if he hadn’t just sent me fifteen hundred bucks.

I looked down at the transfer amount on my phone and couldn’t help smiling.

Money is nice.

I looked up, still smiling, and caught Joseph staring at me with a weird expression.

He handed me the half-empty bottle to hold.

“If you wanted my number, you could’ve just asked.”

“No need for all these games.”

“Clumsy move.”

I had no words.

The second half of the game was intense.

Joseph’s team, sure enough, lost.

He was furious, his face dark.

Then a guy from the other team flipped them off and started trash-talking, and all hell broke loose.

[Here it comes. In this brawl, Benjamin accidentally pushes Joseph, who falls and gets his hand stepped on.]

[If she can change this, Joseph won’t hold a grudge against Benjamin, and he won’t get involved later to ruin the female lead’s redemption.]

[Girl, you need to think of something!]

How? I’m all skin and bones. I can’t fight.

[The physical approach! The scream-and-run method!]

[It’s kind of embarrassing, but it works!]

[While everyone’s frozen, run down there, grab Joseph, and make a cool exit.]

Isn’t there a more dignified way?

I hesitated for three seconds after seeing the live chat’s suggestion, then threw caution to the wind.

I let out a scream that echoed through the entire gymnasium.

Everyone stopped and turned to stare at me.

My face burned bright red.

I have never been this embarrassed in my life.

Taking advantage of the players frozen in shock, I ran down onto the court, grabbed Joseph’s hand, and pulled him away from the center of the fight.

I held his hand tightly and dragged him along.

He wasn’t really cooperating, walking behind me. I was so annoyed I yelled, “Can you walk faster? Stop dragging your feet!”

The key was to get far away from the scene to prevent any accidents.

Joseph’s gaze kept dropping to our joined hands. When he heard my words, he asked calmly, “What are you doing?”

“I don’t want you to get hurt!” I snapped.

“You guys are the worst. So much pent-up aggression, always ready to brawl.”

I grabbed Joseph’s bag and headed for the exit, pulling him along as everyone watched.
