He Made My Parents Wait, So I Stopped Waiting Chapter 03

When I rushed to the hospital, I saw my mother bent over a stretcher in the hallway, silently crying.

I ran over and saw a deep wound on my father’s head.

It had been treated roughly, but it was still bleeding.

“Where is the doctor? Why hasn’t anyone treated him properly? He’s still bleeding!”

My mother trembled for a long time before she answered.

“There was only one ER doctor. There was only one temporary room left too. Sebastian told them to treat someone else first.”

My head went blank.

I stood up just as the door of the room behind me opened.

Violet was hugging Sebastian.

Her eyes were red, and her voice was fragile.

“Sebastian, thank you. If you hadn’t left Winifred’s parents to come find me, I really wouldn’t have known what to do.”

Sebastian patted her back and comforted her softly.

“Your parents are my parents too. Don’t be so polite. Stop crying. Your eyes are swollen.”

I couldn’t hold back anymore.

I rushed over and slapped Sebastian across the face.

My body shook uncontrollably.

“Sebastian, is this what you meant when you said you’d take care of my parents?”

Sebastian barely reacted.

Violet, on the other hand, screamed and hurried to check his face.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

“Winnie, my mother twisted her ankle. Sebastian was afraid it might leave permanent damage, so he asked the doctor to treat my mom first.”

“If you want to blame someone, blame me. Don’t blame Sebastian.”

“He was just too worried about my mom. That’s why he didn’t notice the car door caught your father’s coat and dragged him down.”

Sebastian stepped forward and shielded Violet behind him.

He looked at me, his eyes cold.

“Winifred, you’re upset, so I won’t hold that slap against you.”

“But when something happens, you need to be reasonable. Don’t act like some small-town hysteric.”

“The doctor already checked your father’s wound. He said it was superficial. That’s why I left him outside.”

“But Violet’s mother’s ankle couldn’t wait. If the bone was damaged, that could affect her for life.”

Behind me, my father’s weak voice suddenly sounded.

He called me.

“Winnie, I’m fine. Don’t fight with Sebastian because of me.”

“We country men are tough. We’re not delicate like other people.”

Sebastian looked at me and softened his voice.

He took two steps forward, trying to hug me.

“See? Even your father says it’s not serious.”

“Stop being angry. When morning comes, I’ll arrange a new room for your dad right away.”

I stepped back and avoided his touch.

Sebastian’s face darkened.

I ignored him and called to arrange a transfer to another hospital.

I stayed with my parents all night.

The next day, I went home to pack.

When I opened the door, laughter filled the living room.

A sour, fermented smell hung in the air.

And the man who had claimed yesterday that he had allergies was happily eating a forkful of the sauerkraut Violet’s parents had brought.

Beside the living room trash can were two familiar bags.

They were the bags my parents had carried when they arrived.

I looked at Sebastian.

“What does this mean?”
