My Cruel Bestie Mocked Me to Please His Muse, Unaware I Was Flying to Harvard with a True Genius Chapter 07

It was only then that I realized – those unknown numbers were all Zach calling from different lines. He really

went to a lot of trouble.

I idly scrolled through my post and noticed that in the last photo – besides me – Kevin was in the

background giving a peace sign.

I simply said, “Friend.”

“What a lousy friend.” Zach slammed his fist against the wall, his face ashen. “The way that guy looks at you

is wrong. What exactly is your relationship?”

I didn’t answer. I just asked, “What about you? What’s your relationship with Jasmine?”

He blurted out, “Fri – ”

“Friends, right?” I cut him off.

“Look. In your eyes, Jasmine is your friend. She’s allowed in your kitchen, even if she’s clumsy. She can sit in the passenger seat, even if she’s just a friend. She can make you get down on one knee and call her ‘princess.’ You can change our plan to apply to Harvard together and go to Boston University instead – just to accommodate her grades. Think about it. Is that what ordinary friends do? If they’re just friends, why can’t

I have friends too?”

Zach was furious. He spat out coldly, “Fine, Sophie. You’re doing great. You’d better not regret this.”

The call ended abruptly.

For the next few days, my phone was completely silent. Zach didn’t text or call again.

I was actually relieved.

It wasn’t until five days later that Jasmine started posting again – one post after another, nonstop.

Turns out, Zach had been spending all his time with Jasmine. They went to Disney World in Orlando together,

wore matching couple outfits, posed for photos, went to bars, drank, danced.

Later, I found out Jasmine had whispered in his ear, “I looked into that guy. Sophie hired him to put on a

show – just to get under your skin. If you get really upset, you’ve already lost. This plays right into her

hands.”

So Zach, out of spite, came up with this scheme to get back at me.

But his revenge had no effect.

For the next few days, I didn’t even have time to check my phone. I was too busy enjoying my vacation.

Until the wonderful vacation ended.

The acceptance letters arrived.

The class held its final class meeting.

“Everyone, once you receive your acceptance letters, be sure to take a photo and upload it to our class

group. We’ll put them all on the bulletin board – they’re all outstanding alumni.”

Our homeroom teacher held the last class meeting.

“And I’d like to offer my congratulations in advance. Our class has produced its first Harvard University

student.”

The crowd gasped.

Everyone speculated who it could be.

“Why haven’t we heard who applied to Harvard before?”

“I can’t believe someone got into Harvard.”

“But the top student in our class is our class president, Sophie. Could it be her?”

I kept my eyes on the teacher the whole time.

But when Zach heard this, his expression changed. He cast a fleeting glance my way.

Jasmine slapped his arm. “Zach, why are you always looking at Sophie? You’re not worried she actually

applied to Harvard and won’t want you anymore, are you?”

Zach snorted. “She’s always been my little shadow. If she’s not applying to Boston University, where else

would she go?”

But a classmate I was close with spoke up, looking confused. “Zach, don’t you know yet? Class president

Sophie has already received her acceptance letter from Harvard University. She never applied to Boston

University. She applied to Harvard from the start.”
