My Parents Spoiled Adopted Daughter While Neglected Me, I Sneaked To Hometown Pack Chapter 04

Lawrence looked like he couldn’t get away fast enough. “Okay… well.”

But Amy’s voice came from next door. “Lawrence? What are you two talking about so late?”

She twisted her fingers into her shirt, her eyes full of suspicion, scared my brother was being nice to me behind her back.

Suddenly, I felt like getting even.

“Lawrence said he’s definitely going to get me into the Werewolf Elite Academy. He said he won’t push me aside just to make you happy.”

“Oh, and tomorrow? He’s making sure I get to the airport first.”

Amy’s tears started falling immediately.

“Liar! Everything you said was a lie!”

“Amy, that’s not…” Lawrence tried to go to her.

But she ran back into her room and slammed the door.

Right into his nose.

“Hannah!!!” Lawrence roared at me.

I just shrugged. “What? I didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. That was your plan, wasn’t it?”

“Good night.”

I closed the door in his face.

I had a feeling Amy wouldn’t sleep well.

The next morning, before dawn, I heard noise outside my room. I checked the time: barely past six.

I opened my door.

The whole family, all four of them, were standing there, fully dressed and ready to go.

Just like I expected. None of them slept well.

Amy and Lawrence had bags under their eyes so deep they almost dragged on the floor.

Lawrence still had that bandage on his nose. It looked ridiculous.

Amy shot me a smug look. “Lawrence said he’s not driving you. You have to take a cab by yourself.”

Even my Alpha father chimed in with rare praise. “Lawrence tells me you volunteered to fly commercial. That’s very mature of you. I appreciate that.”

I blin

I looked at Lawrence. He immediately dropped his gaze, too guilty to meet my eyes.

“You really went out of your way to make Dad happy. Thanks so much,” I said, dripping with sarcasm.

Lawrence cleared his throat awkwardly. “Of course. You’re my sister.”

Now Dad was pleased, Amy was smug, and Lawrence was satisfied.

But my Luna mother, who’d been quiet the whole time, didn’t look happy.

“I thought we said she wasn’t going to Silvermoon Fen?”

She frowned. “Now suddenly she’s going? I haven’t packed anything for her.”

“I bought her so much stuff this month, too.”

She started hunting around the house for things that belonged to me.

I laughed. A dry, hollow sound.

“Did you forget? You spent the whole month shopping with Amy. Everything you bought is her size. I can’t wear any of it.”

Mom froze.

She stared at the clothes in her hands, and her eyes went red.

“Hannah… are you mad at me for not taking you?”

“I’m sorry… I just didn’t think. Amy gets so upset whenever she sees you with me. I was scared to have you both around each other…”

“Can you forgive me?”

The warm, happy mood from a moment ago curdled into sadness.

Then Amy let out a loud wail and started playing the victim again.

“This is all my fault. I’m the one who took Hannah’s place. Just leave me here at the pack house. Let Hannah go instead.”

She turned her tear-streaked face to me. “Hannah, let Mom and Dad take you to Silvermoon Fen. I won’t go. If you can make them happy for me, I’ll do anything.”

Every sob of hers landed right on Mom’s heart. Mom hugged her tight, crying her own tears.

Dad put one arm around Mom and the other around Amy, and then his eyes snapped to me, full of fury.
