The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 08
Three days after I passed away, Kieran tore up theÂ
official death certificate with his own hands.Â
Shreds of paper drifted down to the floor likeÂ
falling snowflakes. The cause of death wasÂ
marked as acute complications triggered byÂ
pre–existing illnesses.Â
Kieran stared fixedly at those words, and everyoneÂ
in the meeting room held their breath in fear.Â
He let out a thunderous roar and swept everythingÂ
off the table in one violent motion. “Pre–existingÂ
illness? What illness? She was perfectly healthy!”Â
“Tell me, where is the bag of blood I speciallyÂ
reserved for her? Why was it never used?”Â
Years ago, Kieran had issued an unyielding order that the pack hospital must always keep a bag ofÂ
blood matching my blood type in storage,Â
claiming it was meant to guarantee my safety.Â
The hospital director turned ghastly pale and reached down to pick up the scattered papers, only for Kieran to crush them completely beneathÂ
his leather shoes.Â
Then, as if something suddenly occurred to him,Â
his voice dropped to a low, murderous whisper,Â
“Pull up the surveillance footage from the night of Selene’s car accident.”Â
Thirty minutes later, the video was projected ontoÂ
the screen.Â
In the footage, Selene stepped out of the vehicle completely unharmed. She looked perfectly fine and even took her time tidying her hair.Â
Yet emergency medical records stated she was admitted for hypovolemic shock in urgent need of a blood transfusion. She had used Kieran’s Alpha access card to take away that reserved bloodÂ
supply.Â
Kieran leaned closer, his breath catching sharply.Â
“Rewind it.”Â
The scene played backward frame by frame. The moment the nurse turned away, Selene injected aÂ
small vial of medicine into her own arm. HerÂ
complexion paled rapidly, her breathing grew labored, and she soon collapsed limply intoÂ
Kieran’s arms.Â
Kieran’s face turned livid with rage. The beta staffÂ
fell to his knees in terror. “Alpha, I had no ideaÂ
Selene used your access card withoutÂ
permission.”Â
Kieran slowly turned his head, and the memories flooded back. That night, Selene had wept in hisÂ
embrace. “Kieran, I’m so scared. Can I borrow yourÂ
card?”Â
He had said yes. Just that one word had cost his Luna her life.Â
He clutched his chest tightly and doubled over in agony, blood trickling from the corner of hisÂ
mouth.Â
Leaning on the table to steady himself, he spoke in an icy tone. “Leaning on the table to steady himself, he spoke in an icy tone. “Bring up the surveillance footage taken when Elena died.”Â
Another screen lit up. Outside the blood donation room, I collapsed to my knees in front of Selene’s wheelchair, clutching the hem of her dress and begging her desperately.Â
Selene leaned down and whispered in my ear.Â
There was no sound on the footage, but KieranÂ
could read her lips with perfect clarity.Â
“I simply wanted her dead.”Â
Right then, the line on Elena’s heart monitorÂ
flattened out completely.Â
Kieran grabbed a glass cup and smashed it hard against the screen. The glass shattered instantly, leaving half the display dark and blank.Â
He stormed out of the room in a fit ofÂ
uncontrollable fury.Â
Rich medicinal scents of luxury tonics filled Selene’s room. She was admiring her own reflection in the mirror when Kieran burst inside.Â
“Kieran, you finally came to see me. I know you’re heartbroken, but Vivian is already…”Â
He cut her off before she could finish speaking. He seized her by the throat and slammed her harshly against the wall. Bottles of nourishing supplements tumbled off the table and shattered loudly across the floor.Â
Selene kicked her legs wildly, her face turning purple from suffocation.Â
“The car accident… did you stage it yourself?” She struggled desperately, but Kieran only tightened his grip. “And Elena? Did you kill her too?”Â
Selene sobbed, tears streaming down her face. But when she saw the near–insane look in his eyes,Â
she actually laughed. “So what if I did? You’re theÂ
one who gave the orders! You’re the one who heldÂ
her down!”Â
Kieran’s veins bulged with fury. “Go to hell!” he roared, smashing a glass and pressing the jaggedÂ
shard against her face. Blood trickled down herÂ
cheek.Â
Finally, Selene let out a bloodcurdling scream.Â
The warriors rushed in and forcibly pulled KieranÂ
off her.Â
As they carried her away, she shrieked, “This won’tÂ
bring her back! You and your little brat are theÂ
ones who killed her!”
