The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 04

The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 04

When Elena was brought to the pack house, she clutched two air tickets tightly in her trembling hands.

She looked even thinner than she did in the photo, her skin pale and almost translucent from poor health. She had to stop every few steps and lean against the wall to steady herself.

Yet the moment she laid eyes on me, she broke into a smile.

“Vivian, I’ve bought the tickets. I’m taking you home.”

My throat tightened at once. It was the first time I had tried to sit up these past few days.

But before I could even rest my hands on the mattress, the door was pushed open harshly. Selene rolled inside in a wheelchair, pushed by Scarlett.

A blanket covered her legs. Though her face was equally pale, her gaze locked firmly onto Elena. “So this is your younger sister? You two look so much alike.”

On instinct, I pulled Elena behind me. “Kieran, get her out of here.”

Selene brushed her cheek gently and spoke softly, “Kieran, I keep feeling dizzy lately. Could it be I never fully recovered from the plane crash? Maybe I need more of that special blood again.”

Kieran bent down at once, his voice full of concern, “Where do you feel unwell?”

Selene glanced toward Elena with a faint smile, “Doesn’t Elena also come from that secluded small pack? Perhaps her blood is the same as Vivian’s. If that’s the case, then perhaps I wouldn’t feel so weak anymore.”

I froze completely, “Don’t even think about it.”

Elena was never a sacrifice, and her blood held no such power.

Kieran frowned deeply, “Vivian, it’s just a little blood. It won’t kill her.”

I held Elena’s icy cold hand tight, “She was born with a heart condition. She cannot spare even a single drop of blood.”

Tears welled up in Selene’s eyes right away, “Forget it then, don’t force her. It’s not like my life matters that much anyway.”

Scarlett stood behind her, glaring at me with the same hostile look. “Mom, Selene didn’t ask for anything unreasonable. Stop being so mean to her.”

I looked at my own daughter. She was holding the two tickets Elena had given me, completely unaware that they were my last hope of escape.

The healer entered. After checking Elena’s medical records, his expression turned grave. “Alpha, Elena’s heart condition is extremely unstable. She cannot handle having blood drawn.”

Kieran’s voice dropped low like a beast’s growl, “It’s just a little blood. Selene is the priority. Take her to the blood draw room. Now!”

Two warrior walked straight toward Elena. I lunged forward to stop them, only to be pinned down effortlessly.

I was too weak. My knees hit the floor hard. The impact shot through my bones, and a sharp pain radiated through my entire body.

“Please, Kieran. Take my blood instead. Take as much as you want. Just spare my sister. She cannot survive this.”

Selene looked down at me from her wheelchair, a faint triumphant smile tugging at her lips. “Vivian, why use your own health to pressure Kieran? You know full well you are the one he cares about most…”

She suddenly clutched her chest and slumped weakly into Kieran’s arms. “Kieran, I feel so weak… Do you think I still don’t have enough blood?”

The slight softness in Kieran’s expression from my plea vanished in an instant, turning icy cold. He gestured sharply at the warriors, and Elena was forcibly led over to sit down.

She trembled all over, her lips quivering nonstop, yet she still looked straight at me and forced out a smile. “It’s fine, Vivian. It’s just a little blood.”

The first blood bag was filled. I let out a shrill cry, struggling wildly to break free from the guards’ hold.

The second bag was soon full too, and Elena’s lips turned blue and purple.

Just as the third bag was nearly filled, the heart monitor let out a shrill emergency alarm.

“Stop! She’s in cardiac arrest!” the healer shouted.

But Selene tugged at Kieran’s sleeve and said in a delicate, frail voice, “Kieran, I still feel dizzy… Don’t you think we still need a little more blood?”

I broke free and scrambled across the floor toward her wheelchair. I grabbed her legs and begged. “Selene, please! If you want revenge, take it out on me! My sister is going to die!”

Selene leaned down and whispered in my ear, her voice dripping with venom. “Begging won’t help. I’m going to make every single thing you love disappear.”

A beep echoed out behind me, and the waveform on the heart monitor flattened into a straight lifeless line.

Elena’s hands slipped limply off the armrests of the chair. The two air tickets drifted down to the floor and were crushed under the warrior’s boot.

“No!” I screamed, as everything around me crumbled apart.

The red emergency room light flickered on.

Half an hour later, the chief healer walked out. He didn’t glance my way, only said a single sentence, “I’m truly sorry.”

I stood rooted to the spot, as if the whole world had fallen into dead silence.

Kieran came back after settling Selene down.

I was still sitting outside the operating room. He stood beside me, his tall figure casting a shadow that swallowed me whole.

“Elena was already seriously ill,” he said quietly, “Selene never meant for this to happen. I’ll sort everything out properly.”

I slowly lifted my head to look at him. “Kieran, what exactly do you take us for? Nothing but supplies for your people?”

He stiffened slightly, “Vivian, stop making such a big fuss. You’re going to be fine.”

I stared at the dirty footprints stamped onto Elena’s air tickets and let out a bitter laugh.

“Now I have my answer.”
