Bought a Wolf Pup at the Black Market, Found Out His Father Is Alpha King Chapter 09
Chapter 9 Sports DayÂ
[Unknown Number 1: Did I hear that right? Soren really said he doesn’t want the kid anymore? He used to adore that boy. If somebody touched one finger on his son, he’d cripple them.]Â
[Unknown Number 2: Probably because of Queen Juno from the southern pack. The Moon Goddess matched them as a new pair.]Â
[Unknown Number 3: I heard Juno’s pregnant. MenÂ
change once they get a new mate. Even Alpha Kings.]Â
Queen Juno of the southern pack?Â
That terrifying female Alpha everyone said was unstoppable in battle?Â
She and Soren were mates?Â
I looked at Dylan, still sleeping beside me, andÂ
sighed.Â
“Your family really doesn’t want you. So… howÂ
about you just stay with me?”Â
On kindergarten sports day, the whole field was full of werewolf parents.Â
I stood in the crowd like a sheep that hadÂ
wandered into a wolf pack.Â
Dylan’s face was darker than a storm cloud.Â
“Maybe you shouldn’t run,” he muttered.Â
“You’re gonna lose anyway. Why embarrassÂ
yourself?”Â
“I’m running.”Â
While I was checking in, a few werewolf parentsÂ
brushed past me on purpose and slammed intoÂ
my shoulder.Â
“A human thinks she can join sports day?”Â
“That’s the one who bought a discount kid for sixÂ
hundred bucks. Her jacket probably cost moreÂ
than he did.”Â
“Hahahaha-”Â
Dylan’s face flushed red.Â
He balled up his fists and lunged forward.Â
I grabbed him in a hug.Â
“I can beat them!” he struggled.Â
“I know.”Â
“Then let me do it!”Â
“Not today.”Â
I gently pushed him back.Â
“Go get me a bottle of water and an energy bar. Please. I might pass out after the race.”Â
Dylan bit down hard, then turned and ran.Â
I had barely stepped up to the starting line whenÂ
someone grabbed my number tag.Â
“What lane?”Â
I looked up.Â
Soren.Â
“S–Soren? Why are you-”Â
“The principal asked me to give the openingÂ
speech.”Â
He swept a glance over the other racers.Â
“Let me guess. You weren’t seriously planning toÂ
race this group of werewolves, were you?”Â
“I…”Â
“Perfect. I’ve got time. I’ll run for you.”Â
“But-”Â
“Sir, hurry up!” the teacher calling roll shouted over.Â
“You’re the only dad we’re waiting on! Mom, pleaseÂ
go to the finish line! We need to start!”Â
I got pushed and swept away until I was standingÂ
at the finish.Â
The gun went off.Â
The man in the center lane shot forward like aÂ
streak of white lightning, moving with the grace ofÂ
a predator.Â
Seconds later, he crossed the line.Â
The field went silent.Â
Then someone in the crowd shouted, “That’s aÂ
white wolf! A living ancient white wolf! WhoseÂ
parent is that?”Â
“It’s Dylan’s! His father isn’t a dog–he’s a whiteÂ
wolf! It’s Alpha King Soren!”Â
“Dylan’s family won first place!”Â
My heart pounded.Â
Soren handed the trophy to me and flicked hisÂ
ears proudly.Â
“The principal wants to discuss pack business, soÂ
I won’t meet Dylan today. See you next time, LittleÂ
Flower.”Â
By the time Dylan came running back with a bottleÂ
of water and an energy bar, Soren’s figure, had justÂ
disappeared around the school building.Â
“Where is he?” Dylan asked me.Â
“He left.”Â
Dylan stared at the trophy in my arms like his brainÂ
had shut down.Â
“So when wolves grow up…” He blinked slowly.Â
“They get this weak?”
