After the SSS Beast Slave Bites the Hand That Saved Him, I Choose to Watch Him Bleed Chapter 02

There was a wolf bonded servant lying on the other side of the creek.

In the past life, I saw him soaking in the water.

But he was hurt worse than Gideon. Way worse.

Between the two of them, I picked the one with a better chance of surviving. Gideon.

This time, I didn’t hesitate. I chose him.

When I picked him up, he woke up.

His face was white as a sheet. He could barely focus his eyes.

I asked him softly, “What’s your name?”

His voice was wrecked. “Theron Wade.”

When Gideon saw me save someone else, he froze for a second.

His tail curled in an awkward way. He watched me hoist the unconscious guy onto my back.

After I walked away, Gideon started making that pitiful, pleading animal sound again, trying to get Audrey’s attention.

Theron’s injuries were worse than they looked.

The worst part was the gash that ran from his shoulder down to his stomach.

When I cleaned the wound, his eyes opened.

He looked terrified, like he wanted to run, but he didn’t have the strength to move. He just stared at me.

I said something to calm him down and touched his head. “It’s okay. I’m cleaning your wound.”

Theron looked at me for a moment, then closed his eyes like a good boy.

While I was treating him, Audrey came back.

Her voice was all bubbly, like she’d found a new toy. “Scarlett! Guess what I found today?”

“An abandoned fox bonded servant!”

She was yanking Gideon by the arm while he hopped inside, limping hard.

Every time he jumped, his face went whiter, and sweat dripped off his chin.

In the past life, I carried Gideon on my back the whole way.

Two and a half miles. I didn’t stop once, scared I’d make his leg worse.

Audrey made him hop back on his own.

If that had been me, Gideon would’ve been screaming his head off.

But right now, he was so happy to be free of me that he didn’t even notice the pain. His whole attention was on his dream girl, Audrey.

Gideon pressed himself against Audrey.

“It hurts so much,” he whined. “Please help me…”

Audrey finally snapped out of it.

“Oh. Right. Yeah.”

She led him to a cot nearby.

“I haven’t treated many injuries. If something hurts, just tell me.”

“No problem. Everyone’s new at some point.”

Gideon forced a smile.

“What’s… what’s your name?”

“Audrey Pines.”

“That’s beautiful. You’re the gentlest healer I’ve ever met…”

Gideon’s voice was soft, like he was afraid of scaring her.

That whole act—playing nice, trying to win her over—I’d seen it a hundred times in the past life.

Just never directed at me.

All the herbs were kept in a separate room.

The cabinet went all the way to the ceiling.

To get anything down, you had to climb a step ladder.

Audrey followed me in to look for herbs.

I was up on the ladder, searching the top shelves.

Audrey was down below.

She turned around and knocked the ladder over.

Crash. I fell. My forehead hit the edge of the drawer Audrey had left open.

Everything went red. I was dizzy, my whole body hurt, and for a moment I couldn’t move at all.

Slow footsteps dragged across the floor outside.

Gideon limped in on his bad leg. When he saw me covered in blood, his pupils shrank.

He took two steps toward me on instinct.

But then he saw Audrey curled up in the corner, scared, and every bit of concern in his eyes turned into pure hatred.

“Because I didn’t let you save me? Because I asked you to let me be with Audrey? So you tried to hurt her?”

Gideon carefully wrapped his arms around Audrey, his eyes red.

“How can you be so evil? Going after your own sister?”

Gideon’s voice sounded muffled, like it was coming through cotton.

I shook my head. “I didn’t. She knocked my ladder over…”

“Enough! Stop pretending!”

“Audrey was just looking for herbs. Why would she bump into you?”

“You just can’t stand her!”

Gideon glared at me, vicious.

“Some healer you are. You’re a monster. Someone as cruel as you doesn’t deserve to be alive.”
