My Mafia Husband Had Nine Mistresses, Then Said He Loved Me Chapter 14

Before Ludovica could recover, Leonardo had already left the deck.

Helpless, she put the ticket away.

At the same time, an absurd thought surfaced in her mind.

Could Leonardo like her?

Otherwise, why had he risked so much to help her back then?

Why had he followed her for three whole months?

But why?

She did not remember having any history with Leonardo.

Time soon reached evening.

After hesitating for a while, Ludovica still went to the fifth-floor theater.

Only after entering did she realize it was a masquerade ball.

She looked down at her outfit, helplessness flashing through her eyes.

Leonardo had not explained what kind of event it was, and she had not looked carefully at the ticket.

So she was wearing a simple white shirt and jeans, completely out of place among guests dressed in

glamorous costumes.

Just as she hesitated over whether to return and change, Leonardo walked over.

He was dressed unusually properly today. His fine silk black shirt was low-key and luxurious, and his custom

black suit still gave off a careless, wicked charm.

Wearing a fox mask, he walked up and handed Ludovica a butterfly mask, his smile alluring.

“Forgot to dress up?”

Ludovica nodded. “I’ll go back to my room.”

Before she finished speaking, her wrist was caught.

Under the brilliant lights, Leonardo’s dark eyes reflected tiny fragments of light. If one looked carefully, there was a faint smile there too.

“Ludovica, do you know something? No one in this world requires you to follow every rule. What kind of party must have what kind of outfit? What kind of occasion must have what kind of behavior?”

“Sometimes, you can stop sticking to the rules. Choosing to be yourself is much easier.”

Ludovica froze.

It was the first time she had ever heard such words.

Ever since she could remember, both her father and mother had taught her how important rules were.

No matter the occasion, she could never do anything improper.

Federico had been the same.

He was satisfied with her dignified appearance as his wife and appreciated that every word and movement of

hers was beyond criticism.

She had once believed that was right.

So even after learning Federico cheated, although she screamed and fought in private, she always kept her

composure in public.

But no one had ever told her…

Ludovica, be yourself.

“But… everyone changed outfits. I… I don’t fit.”

A flash of distress seemed to pass through Leonardo’s eyes, but the lights were too bright for Ludovica to

see clearly.

Leonardo placed the butterfly mask on her face, his smile bold and unrestrained.

“So what? Or are you saying you don’t trust the power of my senior attorney license? If someone points

fingers at you, you think I can’t argue them into the ground?”

“Ludovica, don’t underestimate me, okay?”

Ludovica knew Leonardo was joking, but her mood relaxed unexpectedly.

She glanced at him. “The lawyer who charged me a billion-euro fee?”

The pink diamond had cost Federico 1.5 billion euros back then.

Even after depreciation, the black market purchase price would be at least one billion.

Leonardo spread his hands. “A black-hearted lawyer has always charged this rate. We don’t accept complaints after the fact. Come on, let’s dance.”

Leonardo barely gave Ludovica a chance to refuse before pulling her into the dance floor.

At first, Ludovica worried people would look at her strangely because she was dressed so casually.

But after she entered the dance floor, she realized no one paid attention to her at all.

Suddenly, she understood that perhaps Leonardo was right.

Rules were not that important.

Once she dropped the title of Mrs. Cesarini, once she decided to leave the cage that had trapped her, she

really could live freely as herself.
