Eight Months Pregnant, He Signed For My Death Chapter 07
Lexi’s eyes turned red instantly. She looked shaken, like she had just been hit with something she couldn’t handle. Her
voice trembled.
“Caleb… please, just listen to me…”
Her face had gone pale, and tears streamed down one after
another.
“If Mrs. Vance doesn’t want this baby to be born… then I’ll give her what she wants.”
She bit down hard on her lip, her voice breaking.
“She already hates him this much now… what about later? If
the baby is really born and ends up in her hands…”
Lexi looked up at Caleb, fear filling her eyes.
“She’ll find a way to hurt him. I know she will. Instead of letting the baby suffer later… instead of making both of us suffer… it’s better to end it now.”
Her voice dropped into a whisper, fragile and desperate.
“Before he’s born… before he’s even aware… before I’ve
poured all my love into him… I can still let him go…”
Caleb froze.
In the next second, he pulled her tightly into his arms.
“Lexi… don’t say things like that.”
His voice was hoarse.
“The baby is innocent.”
Lexi trembled against him, sobbing uncontrollably.
Caleb’s chest tightened with pain.
But deep in his eyes, a flicker of doubt passed through, almost impossible to notice.
After a pause, he asked quietly, “Then what did you mean earlier… about blaming it on Vivian?”
Lexi’s body stiffened.
She lifted her head, tears clinging to her lashes, her face full of
hurt.
“So now you’re worried about her?” she said, her voice trembling with accusation. “Look at me… I’m like this, and you’re still defending her?”
She choked on her words, resentment creeping in.
“I hate her for hurting my baby. Am I not even allowed to
vent? Besides, this is all her fault to begin with!”
The more she spoke, the more aggrieved she sounded, until
she was crying so hard she could barely continue.
“I had already decided… once the baby was gone, I’d buy a ticket and leave. I wouldn’t bother you anymore… I wouldn’t come between you two again…”
Caleb’s expression changed instantly.
He grabbed her shoulders, his voice low, laced with restrained
anger.
“What did you just say? Leave me?”
He pulled her back into his arms, his tone firm, almost
forceful.
“I won’t allow it. Lexi, listen to me. You and this baby… I’m
not letting either of you go. Anyone who hurts you will pay for
it.”
Slowly, Lexi’s sobs began to quiet.
She looked up at him, her eyes still wet.
“Then… will you stand up for me? Will you deal with her?”
Caleb’s gaze turned cold.
“Yes. If she dared to hurt you and the baby, she’ll face the
consequences.”
Only then did Lexi finally smile through her tears.
She leaned gently against his chest, her voice soft.
“Then… will you divorce her? I don’t want her raising my
child… I don’t trust her.”
Caleb hesitated.
He went silent for a moment.
“The child doesn’t have to be raised by her…”
Lexi didn’t get the answer she wanted. Panic flashed across
her face.
“But then our baby would be born out of wedlock…”
Her voice trembled.
“Didn’t you say you loved me the most? Didn’t you say you
stopped loving her a long time ago? That all you felt for her now was… obligation?”
Caleb closed his eyes.
After a long pause, he finally spoke.
“Yes. The person I love most… is you.”
His voice was low and steady.
“But when I think about divorcing her… cutting her out of my life completely…”
He frowned, his brows tightening.
“It doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like something is being ripped away… like I’m losing something I can’t quite explain.”
He pulled Lexi closer, as if convincing himself.
“Maybe I just… hold on to the past too much. Don’t worry. I’ll send her overseas. She’ll never show up in front of you or the baby again. And she won’t be able to hurt you.”
Only then did Lexi finally relax, a smile returning to her face.
She nodded softly.
“Okay…”
The doctor, who had been standing nearby, let out a quiet breath of relief. After a quick check, they confirmed everything
was stable.
“The baby is fine. I’ll prescribe some medication. She can be discharged today.”
The moment she heard that, Lexi grabbed Caleb’s hand.
“Caleb… the wedding…”
