Stopped My Delivery, Alpha’s Mad Regret Chapter 04
Footsteps drew near outside the door.
Sofia entered, pale-faced in a wheelchair, cradling a bundled pup. Maggie stood behind her, moonstone necklace glinting under the lights.
The instant Sofia spotted me sprawled across the floor, a flicker of satisfaction crossed her eyes.
“Luna Celia,” she cooed mockingly, “why are you on the ground?”
I lifted my head. “Get out.”
She dropped her gaze, putting on a hurt expression. “I merely came to let you see the pup… after all, yours may not live.”
Maggie’s face darkened at once. “Sofia treats you with kindness, yet you stay stubbornly arrogant. No true Luna acts this way!”
I gripped the doorframe, struggling to rise. “All of you—leave. Get me a doctor.”
Without warning, Sofia thrust the bundle toward me.
Instinct made me reach out—only to block it.
She let go.
The pup tumbled from her lap, wailing.
Sofia shrieked instantly. “Celia! How could you strike my pup!”
Maggie darted forward and snatched the pup up. “Wicked she-wolf! Consumed by jealousy over your lost pup, you would hurt Sofia’s pup!”
“May the Moon Goddess forever withhold her blessings from you!”
Mirko burst in, fresh joy still on his face from fatherhood.
But seeing Sofia in tears erased every trace of happiness. “What happened?”
Sofia pressed a hand to her chest, gasping through broken sobs. “I only hoped Luna Celia could share our happiness… but she insulted my pup and lashed out at him.”
I shook my head. “I didn’t touch it.”
Maggie’s voice turned glacial. “She’s jealous. Jealous that Sofia gave the Blackbloom Pack its rightful alpha heir. She’s unfit to be Luna!”
Mirko stared down at me, his eyes colder than arctic ice.
Yet when his eyes landed on the pool of blood beneath me, his pupils contracted sharply.
Pain tore through my abdomen. My arms trembled as I braced myself against the floor.
“Mirko,” I rasped, “I never touched her pup. Call a doctor. Our pup is coming. Please—any longer, and it won’t make it.”
His stare lingered on my face, then dropped to my bloodless lips and shaking hands.
For a brief instant, the truth finally sank in.
I wasn’t throwing a fit.
I was dying.
His fingers twitched.
But Maggie’s shriek cut through the air. “Mirko! Don’t stand there! Take Sofia’s pup to the healer! An alpha’s life hangs in the balance!”
His hand hovered in midair.
I grasped his pant leg. “Please… Save our pup.”
He looked down at me, conflict flashing in his eyes for the first time.
He knelt, hand hovering near my shoulder. His voice came out rough. “Celia…”
Hope surged through me.
Then—
“I’ll get a doctor,” he said flatly. “Wait here. I need to check Sofia’s pup first.”
“He’s so small… He can’t risk any complications.”
I stared at him, hollow.
At that moment, Sofia cried out again. “His lips are turning blue! Mirko—did she hurt him?!”
Mirko shot to his feet.
Snatching the pup from Maggie, he bolted for the door.
My outstretched hand hung suspended in empty air.
Before following, Maggie spun back to the guards. “Lock it. Make sure she doesn’t hurt anyone else.”
The door slammed shut.
I collapsed into the blood pooling beneath me, breaths growing shallower with each passing second.
The pain intensified, wave after crushing wave.
Something vital slipped away from me.
