They Put My Pregnant Daughter-In-Law On A Paternity Wheel For Fun Chapter 04
A junior estate manager hurried into the hall, panic written across his face.
“Mr. Rainer, all Voss Global board directors and senior executives have arrived.”
Kian smoothed the cuffs of his suit jacket, completely composed.
“Perfect.”
“Show them in.”
Dozens of high-ranking personnel filed into the hall one after another.
I knew every single face present.
Some I’d recruited with massive salaries. Some I’d saved from total bankruptcy and given a second chance at success.
Two of them were long-time staff who had followed me since my tiny street-side startup.
Yet none of them stepped forward to check on the injured, humiliated Soraya.
Kian gestured lazily toward her, his tone dismissive.
“This Voss family daughter-in-law has committed marital infidelity and conceived an unknown child.”
“She has also stolen confidential company data and impersonated Ms. Elara with an invalid authority medallion.”
“Tell me—does someone like this deserve to hold Voss Global equity?”
After a heavy silence, Vaughan was the first to speak up.
“Absolutely not!”
“This woman must be forced into a clean divorce with zero assets!”
Another board director echoed immediately.
“Ms. Elara has been overseas ill for half a year. The group cannot remain leaderless.”
“Mr. Rainer is fully capable of handling these internal matters.”
With just a few sentences, they’d crowned Kian the new de facto ruler of Voss Global.
Silas’s body tensed, ready to storm down and intervene.
I lifted a hand to stop him.
“Wait.”
“Not everyone has shown their true colors yet.”
Soraya looked out at the crowd, utterly disappointed.
“Have any of you forgotten who gave you everything you have today?”
“There has never been a male head of the Voss family.”
“Kael’s father passed away long before he was born.”
“Every dollar of Voss Global was built by Elara’s endless negotiations and sacrifices.”
One director curled his lip in disdain.
“That’s all ancient history.”
“The company has operated perfectly fine without her for six months.”
Jorenna chimed in with a fake gentle smile.
“Elara is getting older. She deserves a peaceful retirement.”
“Holding onto power so tightly only exhausts her and holds back the younger generation.”
Kael stood silently beside her, offering no rebuttal.
Kian smiled smugly.
“Voss Global’s success is indeed thanks to her hard work.”
“But without me holding everything together these past six months, the company would have collapsed into chaos.”
“Truthfully, even if she returns now, she’d barely understand modern corporate operations.”
Several people raised their glasses on the spot, addressing Kian as “Director Rainer” for the first time.
I memorized every single traitor’s face in silence.
Perfect.
Every last opportunist had revealed their true allegiance.
Kian shot a look at Jorenna.
Jorenna picked up a cardboard sign printed with [UNKNOWN PATERNITY] and hung it around Soraya’s neck.
“Stop wasting everyone’s time, Soraya.”
“Walk three full laps around the roulette wheel, then sign the documents.”
“Once we have the footage, tonight’s farce will end.”
Soraya ripped the sign off violently and threw it onto the floor.
“DREAM ON.”
Jorenna’s smile dropped completely. She raised her hand to grab Soraya’s hair.
But Soraya pulled a crumpled photograph from her inner pocket first.
The photo showed me sitting beside a hospital bed, my palm gently resting on her still-flat early pregnancy belly.
On the back of the photo was a handwritten line in my handwriting: Soraya and her child will always be family of the Vosses.
Soraya lifted her tearful eyes to Kael.
“You can disown me all you want.”
“But this is your biological child—the grandchild Elara has waited three long years for.”
“How will you face her when she returns after everything you’ve done tonight?”
For the first time all night, genuine hesitation flashed across Kael’s face as he stared at the photo.
Jorenna immediately cut in sharply.
“Kael, don’t forget those ten percent shares.”
“If she keeps the equity, she’ll still hold voting rights on the board even after divorce.”
All hesitation vanished from Kael’s features instantly.
He strode forward and snatched the photo from Soraya’s hands.
“Give that to me.”
Soraya reached to grab it back, but he shoved her brutally aside.
Right in front of her eyes, Kael tore the treasured photo clean in half.
“Stop using my mother to threaten me.”
“Voss Global belongs to ME now.”
“Her return changes nothing.”
He tossed the broken photo fragments onto the floor.
Soraya stared down at the torn pieces, her heartbreak slowly hardening into icy hatred.
In the next second, she lifted her hand and slapped Kael across the face with all her strength.
“YOU MONSTER.”
Kael’s head snapped to the side from the force of the blow.
A collective gasp swept through the entire crowd.
Kael ran his tongue over his stinging cheek, his expression turning murderous.
“Soraya, you’re asking for death.”
He raised his hand, ready to strike her down.
In that exact moment, every single light in the hall cut out completely.
The doors of the Secondary Viewing Suite creaked open slowly.
The sharp, deliberate click of high heels echoed down the long corridor, one step after another.
Kael’s raised hand froze mid-air.
Lights flickered on one by one along the corridor walls, illuminating my path.
I walked to the overlook railing, staring down coldly at the son I’d raised with my own two hands.
“Go ahead.”
“Lay that hand on her, and I’ll strip you of the Voss surname entirely.”
