They Put My Pregnant Daughter-In-Law On A Paternity Wheel For Fun Chapter 01
Inside the grand hall of Veyra Private Estate, my daughter-in-law Soraya Voss was dragged into a cruel game designed to question the identity of her unborn child.
Seven men stood in a circle around the spinning mechanism.
Among them were Kael, my son; his personal bodyguard Torin Beckett; his driver Rory Croft; the company’s CFO Vaughan Ferris; and Dr. Rhys Thorne, the physician who’d overseen Soraya’s prenatal care.
Jorenna Hale, Kael’s childhood friend, covered Soraya’s eyes with her own hands. She smiled brightly for the watching crowd.
“She’s been married three years without a single child.”
“But right after rumors started about her and Dr. Thorne, she suddenly got pregnant.”
She pressed Soraya’s trembling hand against the wheel’s pointer.
“You keep swearing this baby belongs to Kael, right?”
“Then let fate decide.”
“Whoever the pointer lands on will be named the child’s father.”
Loud laughter erupted across the hall.
Several guests immediately began arguing over who the unborn baby’s father really was.
Soraya’s face drained completely of color. She stared tearfully at my son.
“Kael, you know exactly who this child’s father is.”
Kael sat on the main lounge sofa, one arm loosely wrapped around Jorenna. He swirled his whiskey glass lazily.
“If you’re so innocent, what’s the harm in spinning it?”
“If it lands on Dr. Thorne, at least we’ll know who the father is.”
Harsh, mocking laughter echoed through the room once more.
Soraya shielded her belly with both hands, forced to grip the wheel’s pointer tight.
None of them knew I’d been watching every second from the Secondary Viewing Suite for the past thirty minutes.
I’d spent half a year overseas recovering from illness. Soraya was the daughter-in-law I’d handpicked for my family.
And now my own people were treating her like a cheap source of entertainment.
Just before the wheel began to turn, I dialed my chief assistant, Silas Moore.
“Lock all the doors.”
“They love gambling so much? Fine. I’ll gamble with them all night long.”
——-
Silas hung up in less than thirty seconds. All four main entrance doors of the estate slammed shut and locked simultaneously.
The crowd glanced back briefly, but nobody grew suspicious.
They assumed the lockdown was simply to keep tonight’s humiliating spectacle from leaking to the public.
Jorenna clapped her hands, her tone playful yet cruel.
“One spin’s far too boring.”
“Since everyone’s placed their bets, let’s make this professional.”
She gestured toward the seven men surrounding the wheel.
“Whoever the pointer lands on will complete an immediate DNA sampling with Soraya.”
“If the test confirms they’re the biological father, they take the entire night’s wager pool.”
The crowd exploded with excitement.
“That’s brutal!”
“Kael, if your wife really gets paired with another guy, you’ll owe double the celebration money!”
Far from angered, Kael twisted off his wedding band and tossed it directly onto the central betting table.
“I’ll put this ring on the line. My bet is Dr. Thorne.”
“This ring is worth over eight million dollars. I’m naming Dr. Thorne.”
The last trace of color vanished from Soraya’s face.
She stared fixedly at the ring, her voice shaking uncontrollably.
“You put this on my finger yourself on our wedding day.”
“Kael, you’re betting this ring against your own child?”
Kael continued swirling his drink, completely unfazed.
“It’s my ring. I’ll do whatever I want with it.”
Jorenna leaned against his shoulder, wearing a sickly sweet smile.
“Why so panicked, Soraya?”
“If you’re truly innocent, a test will prove it.”
She shot a subtle signal to the staff beside her.
A massive screen in the center of the hall flickered to life.
Photos popped up one after another. The first showed Soraya exiting the boutique private maternity clinic, with Dr. Thorne walking beside her, supporting her arm.
The next frame captured the two standing in the underground parking garage, seemingly in private conversation.
The deliberately angled shots drew a storm of jeers from the crowd.
“Sneaking private meetings in the parking garage? Stop pretending to be pure.”
“Three years without a pregnancy, and suddenly one right after meeting this doctor? How convenient.”
Soraya’s head snapped toward Kael, hurt and furious.
“I had a pregnancy scare that day, and you refused to answer my calls.”
“Dr. Thorne took me to the clinic on YOUR MOTHER’S explicit arrangement!”
Dr. Thorne could no longer stay silent.
“Mrs. Voss experienced serious complications early in her pregnancy.”
“Ms. Elara personally instructed me to oversee her full prenatal care before she left the country.”
My fingers tightened slowly where I watched from the suite.
I’d been overseas receiving treatment when Soraya conceived.
That child had been hard-won. I’d feared Kael would be careless and neglect her, so I’d trusted Dr. Thorne with her care.
Now my kindness was being twisted into filthy rumors to smear her name.
Jorenna let out a mocking scoff.
“Did Elara tell you to look after her health… or was there something more going on?”
Another wave of shrill laughter crashed over the hall.
“Ms. Hale, that’s slander!” Dr. Thorne snapped.
“Is it?” Jorenna smirked. “A DNA test will prove everything.”
She snapped her fingers.
Several estate security contractors rolled forward a portable obstetric exam gurney. The puncture instruments on the metal tray glinted coldly under the lights.
Soraya instinctively curled her body over her belly.
“What are you doing?”
The lead staff member grinned ruthlessly.
“It’s just a test to settle the question once and for all.”
Soraya stumbled backward frantically.
“You can’t do this to me! I can’t undergo this procedure!”
“Get away from me!”
The men ignored her protests and moved toward her.
My personal bodyguards behind me stepped forward instantly.
I lifted a hand to stop them, my gaze locked firmly on Kael.
I was giving him one final chance.
Soraya looked up at him, eyes filled with desperate pleading.
“Kael, this is your child.”
“Are you really going to let them hurt our baby?”
Kael hesitated for a split second.
Jorenna immediately tightened her grip on his arm, whispering sharply.
“If that child is some bastard’s spawn and you defend her now, every elite family in the state will mock you forever.”
All hesitation vanished from Kael’s face in an instant.
“Don’t let her stop the test.”
Two estate guards blocked Soraya from getting away.
During her desperate struggle, the delicate necklace around her neck snapped.
A black obsidian medallion clattered onto the marble floor.
Harlan Vossi, the estate’s head steward, caught sight of the carved emblem on the medallion. His face went deathly pale.
“STOP EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW!”
He shoved the contractors aside in one rush and stood protectively in front of Soraya.
“This is Voss Global’s highest authority medallion!”
“Whoever holds this obsidian medallion commands the same authority as Ms. Elara herself on all Voss property!”
Cold sweat dripped down Harlan’s forehead.
“Anyone who harms Ms. Soraya again is declaring war on the entire Voss family!”
