My Alpha Chose My Sister, So I Chose Someone Else Chapter 08

Only after we entered the room and I released Caleb’s hand did I notice that the man who had seemed so

composed outside was blushing to the tips of his ears.

When he caught me looking, Caleb glanced away self-consciously.

Caleb cleared his throat. “You just got here, and this is all new, so we’ll sleep separately for now.

“My things are all outside. Everything in this room is for you. It’s all new and freshly cleaned, so make yourself at home. If you need anything else, just tell me.”

I looked up and took in everything in the room.

In addition to the basic furniture, there were slippers, towels, a toothbrush, shampoo, body wash, and pajamas, and every single item was the brand and the scent I already used.

“This is more than enough. I love it. Thank you.”

I meant it.

Caleb smiled a little.

“You came here as my Luna. Treating you well is the least of it.

“Rest for a while if you want. Later, I can show you around the territory. If you’re tired today, we can go another time. Whatever you prefer.”

I nodded.

“I’m not tired. Give me a minute to change and we can go.”

As I spoke I pulled a new dress out of the wardrobe.

“Okay.”

Caleb turned away so quickly that he hurried out with an awkward, stiff-legged gait.

Once I had changed, Caleb came to take me on the tour.

We strolled through the territory at an easy pace, stopping often as Caleb explained everything in detail.

Phantom territory had restaurants, a hospital, a school, supermarkets, shopping centers, and every other convenience.

Everyone we passed greeted Caleb warmly.

It was nothing like the Nightfall pack, where Pavel practically cleared the streets whenever he went out and treated his pack members as beneath him.

The calm, easy atmosphere soothed me, and I gradually began to relax.

When we got tired of walking, we stopped at a restaurant to eat.

Caleb said the restaurant belonged to a childhood friend and that he wanted to catch up.

Of course I was not going to stop him.

But most of the food had already arrived, and Caleb still hadn’t come back.

I hesitated over whether to call him.

Starting without him felt rude, but the food in front of me looked and smelled so good that my stomach was in open revolt.

Just then Caleb came over carrying the last dish.

“Try it.”

I took a bite and chewed, and then I was reaching for a second and a third…

It really was good.

“Your friend has a great chef. Everything’s delicious.”

I could not help praising it.

Caleb smiled.

“Not someone else’s cook. Yours.”

I was completely thrown.

“Mine?”

He nodded.

“Mm.”

It finally landed.

“You made all of this?”

He nodded again.

“I did.

“When I was small my father and mother were always away fighting, and I was the only one at home. I had to cook for myself.”

I murmured.

“That must have been hard.”

The corner of his mouth lifted.

“It wasn’t hard. If you enjoy it, it was worth it.”

As I thought back over everything that had happened since the altar and met his intent gaze, a bold idea flashed through my mind.

“Do you like me?”

Caleb raised an eyebrow.

“I thought I had been fairly obvious about it.

“If you’re not sure, I can tell you a thousand times, ten thousand times. I like you. No, I love you.

“I’m only telling you so you’ll see me as a man who’s in love with you.

“I don’t fall for just anyone. There’s no rush for you to say anything back. Here, the choice is always yours.”

My cheeks went hot.

Pavel and I had been together for years, and we never once said what we felt as plainly as that.

“When did you start liking me? Was it… love at first sight?”

Caleb laughed again.

“You could put it that way.”

As Caleb told me the story, I learned that the altar hadn’t been our first meeting.
