They Called Me the Family Outcast, I Sent Them to Trial Chapter 07

Someone immediately looked up the license plate of the car outside.

“The car really is registered to the Commission!”

“And he’s got a Commission badge!”

That was enough to convince them that Tony really was the Chairman.

No one bothered to read the job title on his badge. No one questioned why the real Chairman would show up in a car assigned to the archives department.

After hearing so much praise, Tony forgot his fear. He even made a bold promise in front of everyone.

“I’ll have the list reopened right away.

“Just wait. You’ll all be leaving on the priority convoy.”

When someone asked about the assembly point, Tony mumbled that the location was classified for now.

No one bothered to question such an obvious lie.

Matteo immediately started sucking up to him.

“Chairman, Elena has been questioning you this whole time. Someone like her doesn’t deserve the Commission’s protection.”

Viola clung to Tony’s arm and whined.

“Daddy, revoke her status. Unless she gets on her knees and begs me.”

With no way to back down, Tony forced himself to meet my eyes.

“As of this moment, Elena’s pass is void.”

He reached for the pass in my hand, but Don Bellini stepped between us.

“The list is sealed. No one can change it.”

Tony’s face stiffened, but he refused to back down. “I am the Chairman. I make the rules.”

Footsteps echoed from outside the chamber again.

“Who’s calling himself Chairman of the Commission?”

My father walked in with the Moretti strike team.

The instant Tony saw him, his knees went weak.

Matteo ran outside for a look, then came back laughing so hard he could barely stand.

“Elena, where did you find this con man?

“The real Chairman would be riding in the Commission’s official car. Your dad showed up in a beat-up old pickup.”

The others started laughing too.

“Nice job finding good actors. Too bad you forgot to rent them a decent car.”

“Spent all the money on the bodyguards, huh?”

Viola tried to hold back her laughter. “Elena, you can’t even fake it right.”

That pickup was actually my father’s armored commatid vehicle.

It was designed to look ordinary so it could avoid drawing the FBI’s attention.

My father didn’t bother explaining. Instead, he walked straight up to Tony.

The strike team spread out along both sides of the chamber.

Don Bellini bowed his head respectfully to my father.

The laughter in the chamber stopped at once.

My father looked at Tony.

“I hear you’re the Chairman of the Commission?”

Tony dropped to his knees with a thud..

“Chairman, it’s a misunderstanding… all a misunderstanding.”

Matteo stared at the Chairman’s insignia on my father’s chest, his face slowly turning pale.

Viola grabbed Tony’s arm.

“Dad, what did you just call him?”

Tony backhanded her across the face.

“Shut up! Apologize to the Chairman and Miss Moretti!”
