The Healer’s Fatal Warning Chapter 07
The noisy crowd fell silent instantly.
Everyone stopped and turned to look at me.
At the back of the crowd, a flash of panic and guilt crossed Stella’s eyes.
She immediately stepped forward, shouting at me, trying to incite the pack again.
“Cora! The evidence is irrefutable, and we have witnesses. Are you still going to deny responsibility?”
I didn’t waste a single word arguing with her.
I raised a hand and yanked down the collar of my patient gown.
The smooth, unmarked skin of my neck was exposed for everyone to see.
There wasn’t a single trace of a silver burn scar.
Every word I spoke was firm and clear.
“Look closely. I, Cora, am a Pureblood. Even a silver burn would heal perfectly. I have never had a silver scar on my neck!
“But the person in the video impersonating me has the crescent-shaped silver scar of a half-blood wolf. That person is obviously Stella!”
The crowd erupted.
The Enforcer immediately caught the detail and strode forward.
He grabbed Stella, who was panicking and trying to slip away.
“Sorry, Stella. I need to check.”
The Enforcer reached out and gently pulled down the collar of her white coat.
A crescent-shaped silver scar, identical in size, shape, and color to the one in the video, was revealed for all to
see.
Head Elder Harrison, who had been so confident and imposing just moments ago, went pale and rigid.
My colleagues, who had all pointed their fingers at me, now looked at the floor, avoiding everyone’s eyes.
The Enforcer immediately took the tablet, zoomed in on the video, and compared it again.
Soon, the official conclusion was reached.
The healing room surveillance footage was real.
But the person leading the rescue was not Cora.
It was Stella, deliberately disguised to look like me.
She had taken advantage of the fact that our body types were similar.
Dressed in a sterile coat, mask, and cap, she had completely hidden her face.
Because she knew all my work habits, she thought her plan was foolproof. If anything went wrong, she could just pin it on me.
And the medical chart, with its seemingly flawless signature, was also a forgery. Stella had practiced my handwriting in private.
But no matter how well she mimicked it, there were some details she could never fake.
