CEO Wife Schedules Our Intimacy by the Minute Chapter 05
ird-Person POV
Cheryl rushed over, her eyes scanning the hospital room. Panic filled her chest. She spun around and grabbed a nurse at the station.
“Where did that patient go?” she asked, her voice trembling audibly.
The nurse frowned and took a step back. “Ma’am, please calm down.”
She glanced toward the room before continuing, “The patient completed the discharge paperwork and left early this morning.”
Cheryl’s heart skipped a beat. Her hand slowly slid away from the nurse. She felt as though all the blood in her body had turned cold.
“He left… He was injured. How could he just leave? And where to?”
The nurse looked confused as well. “We tried to persuade him, but he refused to stay. The doctor couldn’t stop him once he insisted on leaving.”
Cheryl swallowed hard and took a deep breath. With heavy steps, she walked back into the room. Her trembling fingers picked up the divorce agreement on the bed. Her gaze gradually dimmed.
How could Joseph have left? How could he?
Her fair arms tensed under the weight of overwhelming emotions. Her fingers curled tightly into fists. Suppressing the rising panic in her chest, she immediately turned around. I
Cheryl stumbled all the way back home. When she shoved open the door, a vacant living room greeted her.
Everything that once belonged to Joseph was out of sight, as though he had never lived in this place at all. Instead, only the painfully glaring wedding portrait of her and Henry remained.
Her chest heaved up and down. She rushed forward, tore the portrait down, and smashed it onto the floor. Staring at the empty wall, she suddenly got slapped by a realization.
“It used to be Joseph and me on this wall…”
Joseph had always treasured their photo together. Although it didn’t hold much meaning, he would still wipe away the dust from it every few days. He would point at the picture with a satisfied smile.
Cheryl rose to her feet and searched through the entire place. It was unfruitful until she found something in the kitchen trash can. She stared at the bin, her entire body rigid.
Everything about her Joseph had thrown away. Inside were many of the gifts she had given him over the years, including their wedding rings. He didn’t take anything connected to her with him.
Cheryl stood there in a daze for a long time before finally bending down to pick them up. She hugged them tightly against her chest, then slowly wiped the stained photo.
“No, no, no… This can’t be.”
Unfortunately, the ink had already soaked in. The more she tried to clean it, the worse it became. Until eventually, she could no longer see through the glass.
At last, she stopped. She pulled out her phone and called Joseph. It was unanswered.
“Why won’t you pick up?”
She gripped her phone until her fingertips turned pale. Lowering her head, she typed rapidly on the screen. Soon, an entire page of words filled the display.
With trembling hands, she sent the message to Joseph, only to find he had blocked her. Her hands trembled. For a moment, she could barely hold the phone.
It was then that Cheryl finally realized Joseph had deleted her as a contact. Perhaps he truly didn’t want her
anymore.
Helpless, she looked up and scanned the living room. Their home had been decorated according to Joseph’s preferences. Every corner carried traces of him. But now, he was no longer there.
She stumbled to her feet, her steps unsteady, her face pale. She had no idea where he could’ve gone or where to start looking for him.
A large lump formed in her throat. Looking at the familiar bedroom door, she mumbled, “Don’t go, honey. Come back, please.”
