“Is the baby really Rowan’s child? Vivian, tell me the truth!”
“So what if he is? We’re already broken up, Charles! Don’t think you can use what happened that night as an excuse to come between Rowan and me!”
“But I did a paternity test! The baby is my biological son! Vivian, I betrayed Wylie for you, and now you want me to lose my own child too?!
“We’ve been together for six years. Six whole years! Vivian, how could you be so heartless to me?”

They did not even hear the baby’s cries coming from the hospital room.
They had no idea the child was crying until he was nearly suffocating.
If a nurse passing by had not discovered him in time and rushed him to emergency care, the baby might not have survived.
“Charles, Vivian, tell me this isn’t real.”
Sandy’s hand gripped the computer screen tightly. Her fingernails dug so hard into the frame that they almost broke through.
“Say something! This is fake, isn’t it? This is a fake video Wylie made to get revenge on me, right?!”
Sandy screamed in desperation. Every part of her seemed to scream that she was falling apart.
However, the man she loved more than anyone could only stammer. He could not answer, and he could not deny it.
Charles never imagined that surveillance cameras had captured the moment.
After a long silence, he finally forced the words out.
“I’m sorry, Sandy. The video is real.”
That sudden confession shattered the last bit of light in Sandy’s eyes.
It also filled Vivian with deep fear.
“Why would you admit it? Charles, are you crazy?!”
She began hitting Charles like he was her enemy.
Instead of avoiding her, he grabbed her wrist tightly.
“Enough, Vivian!
“I’ve already helped you commit too many wrongs!
“I can’t keep making the same mistakes!”
With nothing left to lose, he lifted his head and finally revealed the truth he had hidden for six years.
He and Vivian were never just college best friends.
They had been lovers. The Zimmer family had never accepted their relationship because of how different their family backgrounds were.
From college through to graduate school, they hid their relationship. They were forced to keep their relationship a secret for four years.
Charles never expected that just when he had been accepted into a prestigious law firm and was preparing to propose to Vivian, she would use $500,000 to buy off the four years they had shared.
What he expected even less was that when they met again, the person she married would be his own brother-in- law.
After learning about the absurd past between Vivian and Charles, Sandy nearly lost her mind.
Her entire body was filled with the despair of someone watching their world collapse.
“Hahaha! So I’m just a joke, am I? Charles, you never loved me at all, did you?”
His silence was the answer.
Sandy suddenly rushed toward Vivian and the baby. She slapped Vivian across the face.
“Why? Why did you do this to me? You two were secretly involved with each other the whole time, so why did you drag me into this mess?!”
At that moment, Sandy regretted everything.
She regretted betraying Wylie. She regretted marrying Charles.
The scene descended into complete chaos. The baby suddenly burst into tears.
Vivian’s face was scratched badly by Sandy’s fingernails while trying to protect the child.
Unable to endure it any longer, she finally stood up and slapped Sandy back.
“Enough, Sandy. What right do you have to blame me?!
“You were the one who was jealous of Wylie because she was a better doctor and got promoted faster! You were the one who came begging me, hoping my father would give you a chance at a promotion! From the beginning to the end, you were the one who approached me because of your own interests!
“And you were also the one who kept clinging to Charles.
“If you hadn’t chased him back then, how would you have ended up like this today?”
Every last layer of their false appearances was ripped away.
For the first time, Vivian revealed her true self.
As she held the baby in her arms, she looked down at Sandy and delivered the final blow.
“Other than a fool like Wylie, who would actually want to be friends with someone like you, a worthless orphan? Who would want to spend every day with someone like you?”
Those words hit Sandy where it hurt the most.
Her eyes turned completely red. She charged toward Vivian again like she had lost all reason.
She tried to use violence to reclaim the dignity she had lost.
Behind her, Charles suddenly grabbed a vase and smashed it heavily against her.
“Sandy, I’m sorry, but I can’t let you hurt Vivian and the child.”
