Hidden Husband: Replaced by Her First Love Chapter 09

“I’m the general manager of the company,” I said.

Henry snorted. “You’re the general manager of Mega Corporation? Yeah, right.”

The head of security clearly didn’t believe me either and said impatiently, “General manager or not, you need to leave now. This is an exclusive banquet. You can’t just walk in without an invitation.”

“Then what about that guy? Have you checked his invitation?” I pointed at Henry.

The head of security was caught off guard. “Mr. Cooper? He’s a major client of our company. Of course, he has an invitation.”

Henry tugged at his tie, looking smug. “You really think you’re anything like me? I’m a key client of Mega Corporation. I’m the one who’s going to invest a billion dollars in the company. As for you… You’re just a brøke loser.”

Hearing that, I couldn’t help but frown. I personally handled the screening of all the company’s key clients, and I knew every single project under my management. How could I not know about a billion-dollar project?

When I didn’t respond, Henry continued making a scene. “That’s enough. Stop wasting our time, okay? Just leave.

He waved his hand, gesturing for the guards to throw me out.

Just then, someone said, “What’s going on over here?”

A group of well-dressed people walked into the banquet hall. The middle-aged man at the front headed straight toward me.

“I got held up in the traffic on the way here. What happened? Did something go wrong at the banquet?”

It was Mr. Smith.

I shook my head, letting him know that everything was fine.

That was when it clicked for someone nearby. “Wait. Isn’t that Mr. Smith, the chairman of Mega Corporation? Does that mean this guy is really the general manager of Mega Corporation?”

There weren’t many people at the banquet, so the head of security caught every word. He immediately grew anxious and looked at Mr. Smith. Pointing at me, he said, “Mr. Smith, this is…”

Mr. Smith understood immediately. He put his arm around my shoulder and introduced me to the crowd.

“Oh, I forgot to introduce him. This is my company’s new general manager.”

A few men nearby exclaimed in shock, “If he really is the general manager, then who’s this Mr. Cooper?”

Faith was a little surprised, but she quickly forced herself to look unfazed and said through gritted teeth, “So what if he is the general manager? Henry is a key client of Mega Corporation. Don’t tell me you’re planning to kick a

client out.”

Henry didn’t even flinch. “Exactly. I’m Mr. Miller’s nephew. Without a doubt, he’s one of your biggest clients.”

Just then, Mr. Smith turned and asked someone standing behind him. “Mr. Miller, is he your nephew?”

Mr. Miller hurriedly waved his hands. “I didn’t know I had a nephew!”

The cracks were starting to show. Seeing that he could no longer keep up the act, Henry quickly pivoted.

“So it’s you, Mr. Miller. It’s me, Henry. You held me when I was a baby. If you don’t believe me, you can take a look. I have a picture.”

With that, he took out his phone and showed it to everyone. He really did have a photo on his phone of a young Mr. Miller holding a child.

But Mr. Miller looked very grim. I noticed something was off and asked, “Mr. Miller, this kid looks a lot like your son, doesn’t he?”

Mr. Miller had been a client of our company for many years, so I had interacted with him many times.

His face flushed red with anger. “That’s my son! Nephew, you said? You liar!”

Henry’s composure instantly cracked.

“Thank you for your advice, Mr. Smith.”

Seeing that I understood, he smiled. “Still, work is work. You need a life outside of it too. I actually called Ashley over tonight. You two are my most trusted people. I’ll be counting on you to help take on more responsibility.”

As he spoke, I saw Ashley arrive in a vibrant dress. She looked radiant, like a brilliant red flower blooming under the sun.

Mr. Smith nudged me forward, his eyes filled with a hint of amusement. “She’s always been a strong, independent woman. Still, it’s about time she had someone to lean on.”

I immediately understood what he meant. I walked over to Ashley with a smile and took her hand

At that moment, I felt like I had been given a second chance at life.
