No Longer Mrs. Vincenzo Chapter 05
Lorenzo’s POV
Lorenzo hadn’t slept at all that night. Ayana’s ashen face kept flashing through his mind.
Regret crept in. Why had he defended Elara when Ayana was the one hurt?
He tossed and turned until morning, then went straight to the jewelry store. He bought the sapphire necklace Ayana had always wanted but never let herself have.
He looked at the gleaming blue stone and suddenly remembered her eyes right after they got married. They used to shine just like that.
“Lorenzo, we’ll be together forever.”
He had held her hand and answered, “Until the end.”
A smile tugged at his lips. Ayana would be so happy when she saw this.
He walked into the hospital and pushed open the door to her room. Her bed was empty.
“Ayana… Ayana…”
He called her name as he rushed to the nurses’ station.
He grabbed a nurse by the arm, so frantic he almost dropped the necklace box.
“Where is Ayana?”
The nurse looked uncomfortable under his panicked gaze.
“Dr. Lorenzo, Mrs. Vincenzo has already been discharged. Didn’t you know?”
His heart dropped. He turned and walked straight for the exit.
The nurse called after him. “Dr. Lorenzo, you have a very important surgery this morning. It’s about to start.”
“You can’t leave the hospital right now.”
He didn’t answer. He thought Ayana was being reckless again, leaving against medical advice.
He needed to bring her back. Make her rest properly.
She had to be home. Every time they fought, she would hide in the study and refuse to come out.
He pressed the gas harder, ran three red lights, and finally made it home.
But he searched every room. No sign of Ayana.
With one last shred of hope, he pushed open the storage room door.
A musty smell hit him. Empty.
“Maybe she’s at Greer’s place?”
He muttered to himself, frowning. He pulled out his phone and dialed Ayana’s number.
The line was dead. Disconnected.
His chest tightened. He glanced at the shelf and noticed the photography equipment was gone.
Panic started to set in. He tore through the house.
He realized that every piece of clothing, every bag he had ever given her, was missing.
Her ID, her suitcase, her passport. All gone.
His face went pale. He grabbed his phone and called Greer. Once. Twice. Over and over.
Straight to voicemail every time. Greer had blocked him too.
Anger flared. This was the first time Ayana had ever walked out, and he told himself he had spoiled her too much.
He was about to head to Greer’s place when he noticed a folder on the coffee table.
Curiosity pulled him closer. He picked it up and read the cover.
Divorce Agreement.
