The Last Time I Loved You Chapter 06
Chapter 6 No Forgiveness
Lucien looked at Luna in despair. He had never expected her to say something so heartless.
“We spent countless days and nights together. Is there really not even a place for me in your heart? If you love Julian that much, then why did you come after me? Do you love him so much that you’d even give up your own child?”
He shouted until his voice turned hoarse, but he did not receive even the slightest hint of sympathy from Luna.
The last update the system gave me about Luna was this. She sent Lucien overseas and ended the pregnancy.
After doing everything she believed would atone for her sins, she sought out the system and tried to be reborn once again, only to be told that she had no more chances left.
In the end, Luna completely broke down. She frequently harmed herself and became a regular patient in psychiatric clinics.
She even erected a gravestone for me in the Sterling family cemetery. The inscription read: Julian, Luna’s Beloved.
She often sat there from night until dawn. Several times, people found her passed out beside the grave.
I let out a cold laugh and casually deleted the tutoring job advertisement from the part-time work group chat.
A roommate who had gone to apply came back and complained, “I’ve never seen such a beautiful girl before. It’s a shame she’s so sickly. She gets out of bed and can barely catch her breath.”
That was Luna at seventeen, like an elf carefully raised inside a mansion. And when that elf finally grew wings and gained the freedom to fly beyond those walls, she found me and dropped to one knee to propose.
“From now on, I can finally be a normal woman. I can marry you. I can have your children.”
But while she constantly claimed to love me, her body reveled in Lucien’s affection.
Many times, I wished she would simply tell me the truth. Tell me she had changed her heart. Tell me she had fallen in love with Lucien. That way, we could have parted on good terms.
Was deceiving me and betraying me through one rebirth after another really that entertaining?
It did not matter anymore. Her game was over.
Years later, I became one of the country’s leading cardiothoracic surgeons.
In the development of artificial hearts, I provided both theoretical expertise and technical guidance.
Because of that work, more and more heart disease patients were able to receive artificial hearts and successfully adapt to them.
One day, I was invited by a hospital to give a lecture.
After it ended, several patients who had benefited from artificial heart technology approached with bouquets to express their gratitude.
That was when Luna appeared before me without warning.
“Julian.” She spoke softly, her voice rough with strain. “You chose rebirth, didn’t you?”
The hospital director introduced her as one of the beneficiaries of the artificial heart I had helped develop.
Luna was shockingly thin. Her coat hung loosely from her shoulders. As if she needed to confirm that this reunion was real, her emotions suddenly shattered beyond control. Even her fingertips trembled.
“In this life, you deliberately avoided every timeline where we could have met. I searched for so long, and I finally found you…”
She reached out, wanting to touch me and confirm that this encounter was real. Countless horrifying scars covered her arms, all of them knife wounds.
“I failed you. I thought everything could start over. I thought there would still be another chance. Julian, I did so many things that hurt you. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
I coldly stepped away from her outstretched hand. I found her unbearably noisy.
“You were reborn ninety-nine times. Every single time your betrayal was exposed, you apologized, admitted your mistakes, and begged for my forgiveness.”
Luna froze. Guilt slowly filled her eyes.
“But did I ever forgive you?” I continued.
Luna shook her head mechanically, as if she did not understand what I meant.
“No. Across all ninety-nine betrayals, I never chose to forgive you.” I paused. “And this time, I don’t intend to forgive you either.
