The Last to Know Chapter 09
Chapter 9 The Truth Comes Out
It was a video of Oliver hanging out with a bunch of his friends.
He lounged on the couch with a cigarette between his fingers, rolling his eyes as he sneered. “Sean, that idiot, actually asked me to lend him money to buy a car. He really thinks he’s somebody.
“I only kept him around to get Gavin to spill his secrets. Besides, he’s broke and ugly. Standing next to him just makes me look more successful. Him? My friend? As if.
“And Fiona’s best friend is poor and trashy. She’s destined to spend her whole life following other people around.
“Then, there’s Fiona’s brother. Shameless freeloader. All he does is mooch off his sister. He’s a complete parasite. Fiona’s money is my money. What right does he have to spend it? Once we’re married, I’ll throw him out of the house.”
Oliver had insulted every single person in his circle.
The video ended with his shrill, unhinged screaming.
The people who had been defending Oliver just moments ago all wore expressions as dark as thunder.
None of them could believe that the polite, well-mannered man they knew had such a vicious, twisted
side.
Even Fiona stumbled back several steps in disbelief.
The bouquet slipped from her hand and hit the floor. Her eyes were filled with fear, as though she were
looking at a complete stranger.
“Oliver, they’re my friends. My family. The people I care about. How could you say those things about them? You’re terrifying.”
Oliver shook his head frantically.
He had barely opened his mouth to explain before Sean tackled him to the ground.
Straddling Oliver’s chest, Sean slapped him across the face again and again, then wrapped both hands
around his throat.
“I treated you like my best friend, and this is how you talked about me? You bastard. Who are you calling ugly and broke? You’re a two-faced piece of trash. I’m going to kill you.”
Fiona’s brother and the others watched with obvious satisfaction. Some of them were already cracking their knuckles, ready to jump into the fight themselves.
Afraid someone would end up dead, I immediately alerted the police. “The scene is out of control. Two suspects are fighting. Requesting immediate backup.”
Within minutes, a team of officers burst through the doors and brought the chaos under control.
Oliver and Sean were both placed in handcuffs.
Fiona looked confused. “Officers, thank you for responding so quickly. But it was just a fight. Was it really necessary to put them in handcuffs?”
One of the officers looked at her coldly before delivering the truth in a firm voice. “Who said this was just a fight?
“According to our investigation, Oliver and Sean deliberately provoked and enraged Ms. Sutton at the hospital, ultimately causing her death. Afterward, they secretly stole Ms. Sutton’s body and hid it in a used chest freezer in the basement of one of their homes.
“They are suspected of causing Ms. Sutton’s death, stealing her remains, and mistreating them afterward. They will be charged accordingly.”
