Not All That’s Broken Can Be Fixed Chapter 07

Abigail stated flatly, “You’ve gotten exactly what you wanted, so get lost now. You’d better not show your faces in front of me again; I don’t want Christian getting upset.”

Ethan abruptly rose to his feet, staring at Abigail in disbelief. “You said you loved us, Abigail! You already divorced Christian, didn’t you? How can you kick us out now? Did Christian say something to you? Did he threaten you, Abigail?”

In the very next moment, Ethan’s face stung with searing pain.

Abigail deliberately rubbed her wrist, her gaze utterly cold as she snarled, “I told you to get lost! Is that too hard for you to grasp? You’re nothing but cheap amusement I ran after when I had nothing better to do. Did you actually mistake yourselves for some scions in high society?”

She then signaled to the bodyguards behind her, who immediately stepped forward, grabbed Ethan and

Owen, and threw them out the door.

Ethan and Owen banged on the door like madmen. “Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about us, Abigail? Please let us in! Please don’t abandon us!”

Abigail’s frown deepened with growing impatience. She ordered the bodyguards to pack up all of Ethan and Owen’s belongings and throw them out of the house. She then restored the master bedroom to its original state, though it was a pity that many of those original pieces could no longer be purchased.

Abigail looked around the empty house, her anxiety mounting. She then turned to the bodyguards and ordered, “Go and get me a dog.”

She snapped after noticing the bodyguards’ confusion. “I told you to go get a dog for me! Is that so hard to understand? Go find a puppy similar to the one Mr. Fuller used to have! Go see to it this instant!”

Upon hearing that, the bodyguards acknowledged the order and left at once.

It was then that Sebastian respectfully presented an invitation to Abigail, saying, “Ms. Southall, the head of the Sherman family from Halport, is getting married soon, so she has specifically forwarded this invitation, requesting that you attend the wedding banquet.”

Abigail took the invitation, her brow furrowing slightly. “It’s from Raven Sherman, the wealthiest woman in Halport?”

She casually opened the invitation as she said so, but the moment her eyes landed on the groom’s name, her breath hitched. She could feel her hands trembling as she checked it repeatedly. “Did the Shermans really send this over?”

Sebastian nodded, replying, “Yes, Ms. Southall.”

Abigail swallowed nervously, her face drained of color. “Why is the groom’s name Christian Fuller? Is it possible they just share the same name?”

Sebastian looked equally confused, frowning as he speculated. “It probably isn’t the same person. It’s

been rumored that the Sherman family thinks very highly of this new son-in-law of theirs. Mr. Fuller’s background, though…”

Hearing what Sebastian said, Abigail immediately relaxed. “You’re right. It couldn’t possibly be my Christian.”

She knew that the Sherman family was the wealthiest in Halport, and there was absolutely no way Christian’s background would ever measure up to theirs. She tossed the invitation back to Sebastian and said, “Go prepare a lavish wedding gift. It’s the Sherman family, after all-we can’t afford to be disrespectful.”

Christian’s POV

I stroked the gold-embossed invitation in my hand while Raven was occupied with the wedding arrangements. I suddenly recalled one of my memories from my childhood, the year the Shermans moved away. I was just six years old, weeping as I pursued their car, crying out, “Raven!”

Raven got out of the car and ran to me after I had run for a long while. She then gathered me into her arms and carried me back, murmuring reassuringly, “You be a good boy now, Christian. I’ll come back for you one day, so you’ll have to wait patiently for me.”

That very same year, Mom took a lover behind Dad’s back. She barely ever came home because of him, and eventually, she forced Dad into a divorce, throwing both him and me out of the house. That day, Dad and I became the laughingstock of our entire social circle.

Dad had ignored my grandparents’ objections back then, choosing to cut ties with his own parents just to marry Mom. He was left with absolutely nothing after the divorce, yet he couldn’t even return to his family because of that. He eventually raised me alone, living under severe financial strain.

I met Abigail when I turned 18 years old. She had insisted that Dad served as her piano instructor, which made our financial situation a bit easier.

Dad eventually fell seriously ill due to the betrayal and constant stress, but Abigail stepped in to handle everything for the two of us, going so far as to enlist a top-tier foreign team to develop a specialized

treatment for his illness.
