The Floating Comments Showed Me His Real Feelings Chapter 09
(Callum’s doing this on purpose. He’s jealous and playing it cool but he’s DEFINITELY fuming about the
jacket.]
[For sure. He literally said he’d give them his blessing out of spite. Sienna must be devastated. My poor
baby.]
[It’s fine. This was always a sweet-and-angsty story. Without the pain, the sweetness wouldn’t hit as hard.]
[I hate Maren more every time she shows up. How is she STILL standing between Callum and Sienna?? If I could reach into this story I’d drag her out by her hair!]
[It’s fine. She’ll get what’s coming to her…]
A few comments in, and they were already fantasizing about my downfall again.
The first time, they’d terrified me. Now? I was almost numb. None of their predictions were even original.
I was still lost in thought when someone pulled me close.
The scent of cedar and musk, his scent, wrapped around me before I even looked up.
I turned and really looked at him.
His face was blank. There was nothing, not a trace of whatever the comments kept insisting he felt for
Sienna.
Sienna, on the other hand, had her expression locked down tight, but the hand gripping her purse had gone
white-knuckled.
Callum didn’t even glance at her. He took my bag, put his arm around me, and started walking.
We barely made it two steps before Sienna’s voice cut through behind us.
“Callum, you figured it out, didn’t you?”
Callum reached over and unclasped the vintage gemstone pendant from my neck.
The comments vanished. Every last one, gone, like someone had flipped a switch.
Callum let out a quiet, dark laugh.
“You mean this?”
It clicked. All of it.
“You actually bugged me?”
“Why? What did I ever do to you?”
Sienna scoffed.
“Why? Because I love Callum. I was always supposed to be the one next to him.”
“You came out of nowhere. What makes you think you can compete with someone who’s known him his whole life?”
I didn’t answer. But Callum took my hand.
“What other reason do I need? Because I love her.”
“If time was all it took, you’d be in love with Nolan, not me.”
Sienna’s voice cracked with bitterness.
“Nolan? I never loved him. He’s just a friend. You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted. Why won’t you even look
at me?”
“I did everything for you, and she walked away without even fighting for you. You’re still choosing her?”
“Callum, after everything I’ve done, you never once got mad at me. Can you really tell me I mean nothing to you? Not even a little?”
Callum turned around. His voice went ice-cold.
“You should be grateful your last name is Wexler. Otherwise…”
I’d never seen Callum look at anyone like that. Sienna actually stumbled back a step.
She still wouldn’t stop.
“Callum…”
Another voice cut in.
“Sienna, that’s enough!”
