My Sister Reborn Took My Groom Chapter 04
I spun around in surprise.
Aiden strode through the door and walked right inside.
Yvonne’s face contorted as she stared at me in pure disbelief.
“Aiden? He actually came with you?”
Shock flashed across her eyes.
In her past life, she had returned for family day entirely alone. Aiden, a reckless playboy back then, had preferred hanging out with his deadbeat friends over accompanying her.
The memory made her glare at me with venom.
But meeting Aiden’s icy gaze, she quickly shrank back and hid in Harrison’s arms.
Harrison stepped forward to shield her, glaring coldly at Aiden.
Aiden smirked and took his time responding.
“Mr. Cole, taking sides without even knowing what happened means you lack basic judgment. Maybe you should learn some manners before trying to educate others.”
Ignoring Harrison’s purple face, he handed a premium bottle of bourbon to my dad. “Sorry I’m late, sir. Something came up at the company.”
My dad took it, stunned. Once he recognized the high-end label, his face lit up. “You shouldn’t have bought something so expensive! Shirley already brought back so much stuff. You’re spending way too much on us!
My dad pulled Aiden toward the dining room. “Sadie, get the food out! I’m having a proper drink with Aiden today!”
Sadie, called out like that, had no choice but to grind her teeth and head to the kitchen.
At the table, everyone ate with their own hidden agendas.
Aiden kept putting food on my plate, peeling shrimp for me, and dabbing the corner of my mouth.
Across the table, Harrison kept glancing up at me for some reason.
Even when Yvonne acted cute and said she wanted shrimp too, he completely ignored her.
Furious, Yvonne slammed her cutlery down and glared at me, as if Harrison’s cold shoulder was somehow my fault.
I found it ridiculous.
I just kept my head down and focused on my food.
My dad noticed nothing of the tension, fully occupied with pouring drinks for his two sons-in-law.
Seeing them strike up another round, I took the opportunity to step outside for some fresh air.
Yvonne followed me out immediately, completely hostile. “Shirley, you think you’re something special now that you’ve bagged Aiden, don’t you?”
I looked at her, amused. “He’s my legal husband. Isn’t it only natural to ‘bag’ my own husband?”
“You!”
Yvonne choked on her words, but then a smirk crossed her face.
“Shirley, you think you’re going to live a life of luxury forever? No matter how much money the Hettlers have, Aiden will burn through it. Besides, who knows if that punk will even live to see old age, hahaha…”
I let out a dry laugh. “That’s none of your concern.”
I glanced back inside and said smoothly, “Looks like your precious Harrison’s had a bit too much. You’d better get your bike and take him home. Our car’s full, so we’ll be on our way.”
Leaving a fuming Yvonne behind, I helped a heavily buzzed Aiden into the car.
I told the driver to hit the gas, and we pulled away.
