The Doctor Who Learned Love Too Late Chapter 11
I still went to the hospital.Â
Just as I was about to raise my hand and knock, IÂ
caught sight of someone inside.Â
Chloe stood by the hospital bed, bending down.Â
with both arms around Landon’s shoulders.Â
My breath caught.Â
My whole body went cold.Â
I pressed my lips tight and turned to leave.Â
Then I heard Landon’s voice.Â
“Chloe, you need to learn how to keep yourÂ
distance from me.”Â
When I looked back, Landon had already pushedÂ
her away.Â
“We’re both adults. Behavior like that will makeÂ
people misunderstand.”Â
Chloe stiffened, then smiled awkwardly.Â
“Landon, did June say something to you?”Â
“What does this have to do with her?”Â
Landon frowned as he asked.Â
Chloe tilted her head and looked at him, suddenlyÂ
emotional.Â
“But I want you to misunderstand. I like you!”Â
“I’ve always liked you. Since we were kids! Why do you think I always came to you? Every time I wasÂ
sick, every time something happened, I came toÂ
you. Did you really think I didn’t know the way to aÂ
hospital?”Â
Landon froze slightly.Â
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know. If I had, I would haveÂ
stayed farther away from you a long time ago.”Â
Chloe’s voice twisted.Â
“What did you say?”Â
“I have someone I like.”Â
“You already broke up!” Chloe shouted unwillingly.Â
“So what?” Landon said calmly. “It’s enough that IÂ
like her. No matter what she does.”Â
I tilted my head back and stared at the ceiling for aÂ
moment.Â
In the end, I still let go of the doorknob and turnedÂ
away.Â
After that, Landon didn’t show up for several days.Â
Ivy leaned closer.Â
“Hey, did Landon give up?”Â
“Stop chasing gossip. It’s high in sugar.”Â
She suddenly let out an “ah.”Â
“Speak of the devil.”Â
Landon appeared at the door, his face pale.Â
“There were some things at the hospital over theÂ
past few days. I didn’t come watch your show.Â
Don’t be mad.”Â
“I don’t care whether you come or not.”Â
He still smiled, though it looked even moreÂ
difficult.Â
“Mm. You’re right.”Â
Just then, a commotion broke out outside.Â
I hurried over.Â
A male audience member had stretched his armÂ
out in an ugly way to block one of our actresses, insisting on getting her Instagram.Â
When she refused, he started cursing crudely.Â
I quickly stepped in front of the actress.Â
“Please leave.”Â
“Who are you?” He looked at me sideways.Â
“What’s it got to do with you?”Â
I waved to the side.Â
“Security!”Â
The man gritted his teeth. As I pulled the actress backward, he grabbed a prop light beside him andÂ
swung it at me.Â
I closed my eyes on instinct.Â
Thud.Â
A muffled impact sounded.Â
Landon shielded my entire body in his arms.Â
Security rushed over and pinned the man down.Â
The surroundings exploded into chaos, butÂ
Landon kept holding me tightly.Â
His face was even paler than before.Â
I turned in panic and saw his arm hanging weakly.Â
“Landon!”Â
He patted my back.Â
“Probably just a minor fracture. Don’t be scared.”Â
I gritted my teeth.Â
“Are you stupid? If it had been worse, your handÂ
could’ve been ruined. You’d never hold a scalpelÂ
again!”Â
He froze, then smiled as if nothing had happened.Â
“It’s okay.”Â
I was furious.Â
“I know. About you resigning.”Â
He froze.Â
“I’m sorry, I didn’t want you to know.”Â
I didn’t know why he was apologizing.Â
But somehow, I also did.Â
This man, who had only ever run on his own set ofÂ
code, seemed to have finally connected with theÂ
world.Â
I supported him and said softly, “Come on. I’ll goÂ
to the hospital with you.”Â
We went to the hospital, took X–rays, and had hisÂ
arm treated.Â
Half the day passed.Â
He kept staring at me and walking beside me.Â
When we reached the hospital entrance, he lookedÂ
reluctant to leave, as if he wished he could breakÂ
his other arm too.Â
I sighed.Â
“Landon.”Â
He turned his head.Â
“You’re learning well now.”Â
Confusion flashed across his face.Â
I didn’t explain.
