My Heart No Longer Beats for You Chapter 08

I followed Daisy into the “cage” she personally designed for me.

From that day onward, I stayed quietly in the villa to recuperate. I asked nothing of her.

I acted like someone who loved her so much that I had lost my sense of who I was.

Daisy visited me often at first, but eventually, she only came by once a week.

Every time she saw me, I would push myself to cook for her despite being hurt. The guilt in her eyes would also deepen when I

did this.

It was because Corey would give me trouble when she was not looking.

She knew what he was doing but pretended not to know because the Trumans and the Sagers are now tied together in a knot.

Daisy could not afford to have any falling out with Corey for the greater good of their families.

Moreover, she could never bear to hurt him.

To make it up to me, Daisy bought me plenty of expensive watches and luxury cars.

I used to reject them before, but now, I accept everything she gave me.

After all, acting alongside them was hard work too.

When I was feeling much better, I used the excuse of visiting Sam to leave the house.

I knew that Daisy had her men watch over me, which was why I did not do anything reckless.

However, I had quietly helped Sam apply for his passport. I had also resigned to prepare for my postgraduate studies. I was planning to go to Varelia with him to study and move there permanently.

When I came back, I heard smashing in the house when I got out of the car.

I saw Corey sitting on the sofa and drinking coffee the moment I entered the door. His bodyguards had destroyed everything in the house.

As I was thinking about being able to leave soon, I was in a good mood. I looked at him and said, “Aren’t you tired of coming here every few days, Corey Sager?”

Corey scoffed coldly. “I don’t need to lift a finger. Of course, I’m not tired.”

“Please continue, then.”

I went into the kitchen after that.

Daisy said she missed my cooking and wanted to come over that night.

That was why I shopped for groceries before coming back.

Corey got mad when he saw how nonchalant I was. “Get him!”

His bodyguards did not move. In fact, they looked troubled.

I taunted, “Do you think they dare to touch me, Corey?

“Daisy married you because the situation called for it. Do I need to tell you who is the person she really cares about?

“Even your parents are turning a blind eye to me living here. Do you think your bodyguards would dare to touch me?”

Corey got mad and threw coffee on me. His expression was savage, and anger was in his eyes. “Cut the crap. I’m the one Daisy

loves.”

At this point, he seemed to have remembered something. He said with great delight, “I don’t think I’ve told you this before.

“I drugged myself during Daisy’s birthday and told her that I’ll get a random woman to help me get off.

“She refused and said I could only be hers.

“Daisy kept screaming my name. She said she loves me and would never leave me.”

Corey got even more gleeful at this point. He continued saying with great flair, “That’s why I wanted to force her into making choice by threatening to jump off the building.

“Do you think Daisy wouldn’t know that I won’t jump? She knows. She was just afraid that something might happen to me.”

I watched as Corey chatted away. I guess he died in my past life because things got out of his control.

He never wanted to die.

However, it was because of his ‘game’ that Sam and I ended up paying with our lives.

At this point, I could no longer hold myself back. I lunged forward to push him hard.

That was when Daisy, who had been standing at the doorway for quite a while, came inside.

Corey immediately looked upset when he saw her. “He pushed me, Daisy.”

Daisy ignored him. She reached out for my hand, trying to calm me down.

I pulled away. In a burst of rage, I dumped all the ingredients.

Raw seafood scattered across the floor, and the splashing water soaked her clothes.

Corey screamed, “Daisy!”

I looked at Daisy and laughed coldly. “How cheap am I to even think about cooking for you, Daisy? We are over…”
