A Debt Repaid In Blood, A Marriage Paid In Silence Chapter 06

A Debt Repaid In Blood, A Marriage Paid In Silence Chapter 06

He rushed home in his car, speeding down the

highway.

The first thing he did was search the house for

Wren Hale, but she was nowhere to be found.

He tore through the entire villa, and finally had to

accept the truthshe was gone.

Only a divorce agreement was left on the table.

Julian stared at it in a daze, and the wound on his

hand throbbed again.

A strange, unfamiliar pain shot through his heart,

too.

He refused to believe it. That woman, who’d

always been so desperate for money, would just

walk away from the marriage like this.

But then it hit him.

Wren had only wanted money to save her mother.

Now that her mother was gone, money no longer

mattered. Not even the marriage.

Sweat broke out on Julian’s palms. He jumped to

his feet in a panic and called Wren.

But no one answered.

Nola flashed into his mind, and a glimmer of hope

filled his chest.

As long as he had their daughter, Wren would have

to come back.

But the next second, he froze. He had no idea

where Nola was.

A dark glint flashed in Julian’s eyes, and he let out

a cold laugh.

Then he called the police.

When Lila found out Julian had called the cops,

she was over the moon. She thought he’d finally

come to his senses.

But when I showed up at the police station, Julian

changed his mind and dropped all the charges.

Lila flew into a rage. She charged at me, grabbed

my collar, and raised her hand to hit me.

But before her hand could make contact, Julian

grabbed her wrist and shoved her away.

He wrapped an arm around me and walked out of

the station without a word.

Julian! That monster killed our baby! How can

you be so unfair!?”

Even if I did knock over her mother’s ashes on

purpose, a dead person can’t compare to a living

one!”

And it’s not all my fault! You’re the one who gave

me power, who made me think I could get away

with it! Now you’re throwing all the blame on me-”

SHUT UP!”

Julian’s veins popped out on his forehead as he

spun around and cut her off.

He stared at her for two seconds, then let out a

cold laugh.

Is it not enough money I’ve given you? That’s all

you’re worth. Don’t be greedy.”

I never planned to marry you, not for a second.

Even if that baby had been born, I would’ve just

given you more money and taken the child. Now do you understand?”

He’d felt a little sorry for her once. But first she’d

gotten pregnant on purpose to force Wren out, then she’d given his daughter a sleeping pilland

he’d let it slide.

But she just kept pushing Wren, acting like a victim.

And now his marriage was falling apart because of her. He’d been more than generous with her.

With that, he didn’t spare the ashenfaced Lila another glance. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his car.

I stared out the window, saying nothing.

In the past two days, I’d buried my mother in a

cemetery.

I’d thought keeping her ashes close would be

enough, but it was selfish of me. She’d been tired

for so long. She deserved to rest in peace.

Wren, come back home. I’ll never bring other

women into the house again.”

Julian’s voice was tight, a hint of pleading in it-

but it made me sick to my stomach.

Not I’ll never cheat on you again. Not I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done.

Just I’ll never bring other women into the house.

again.

I let out a laugh, cold and mocking.

Julian’s hands tightened on the steering wheel, a look of struggle on his face.

Tell me what you want. This happened, but we can face it together, can’t we?”

Divorce.”

I whispered the two words, and had nothing more

to say.

Julian shook his head, looking at me with pity.

Where will you go without me? You have no job, no family. You want to take Nola with you, but what can you give her?”

His words were cold and blunt, meant to break me

down.

But I’d already thought it all through. I’d originally planned to leave Nola with him.

But after what Lila didlet’s be honest, Nola

might not even live to grow up with them.

I already found a job. If you really care about our

daughter, give her more child support.”

Do you really have to fight me on this?”

Julian slammed his fist against the steering wheel

and slammed on the brakes at the side of the

road.
