After I Learned I Was Going to Be His Ex-Wife Chapter 01
My husband didn’t love me. But at least he was gorgeous and very good in bed.
Every night, I had him indulge in elaborate roleplay with me.
Until one day, comments began appearing before my eyes, like a translucent overlay:
[God, I’m so sick of this ex-wife. The male lead comes home exhausted and still has to cater to her weird fetishes. No wonder he’d rather stay at the office than come home.]
[She bought an entire closet full of “husband material” loungewear. He’s a billionaire CEO, he only wears custom suits. Who would ever wear something that tacky?]
[All the ex-wife does is wait on him, spend his money, and cling to his side. How is she supposed to compete with a driven, independent female lead?]
[Don’t worry. The male lead and the female lead have been working late together every day, slowly falling for each other. When the ex-wife finds out, she’ll throw a tantrum, get kicked out, and walk
away with nothing.]
I jerked back, pushing Ethan Harrington away just before he kissed me.
I hastily buttoned up my shirt.
“Never mind, never mind!”
Ethan paused.
Seeing me clinging to my collar, his brow furrowed slightly. He looked like he was trying to figure out what new game I was playing.
His elegant hand rested lightly on my calf, his palm burning hot.
The heat seeped through my skin, and I couldn’t help but shiver.
Ethan’s eyes darkened, as if he’d understood something. He adjusted his glasses with mock
seriousness.
His voice was deep and professional, “Miss, please cooperate while I examine you.”
I was speechless.
Today, he was playing a doctor, dressed in an alluring white lab coat.
His long fingers toyed with a stethoscope. With that effortless composure, he looked dangerously attractive.
I instinctively swallowed.
Normally, I would have jumped him by now.
But remembering the comments, I reluctantly closed my eyes. “Actually, I’m done for tonight.”
Ethan took off his glasses, confused. “Why?”
I forced a laugh. “You worked so hard, you should get some rest.”
His dark eyes studied me for a long moment. Then he suddenly stood up and headed for the
bathroom.
As the distance grew between us, my heart felt strangely hollow.
He didn’t even say a word. He really was already fed up with me.
[Finally, the male lead leaves before his reputation gets ruined!]
[Why is the ex-wife acting different today? Usually she’d be all over him by now.]
[What kind of stunt is she pulling now? Wanting him, then not wanting him. So high maintenance.]
‘She’s such a villain. She used the fact that she saved his mother to force him into marriage. So
meless. If it weren’t for her, the leads would already be together.]
