My Best Friend’s Brother is My Ex Chapter 11

My Best Friend’s Brother is My Ex Chapter 11

That night, Soren arranged for a car to take Chloe

and me home.

Before we left, I saw him talking to Ryan by the

curb.

My head was pounding.

Too much had happened in one day.

I couldn’t deal with any of it.

In the car, Chloe grilled me nonstop.

Demanding to know why I’d gone off alone with

her brother.

I sighed.

It’s complicated with your brother.”

Then make it simple, she shot back. Don’t play coy with me.”

I couldn’t keep hiding it from her.

I thought about it, then said,

Remember that online girlfriend my brother had?”

She blinked, then nodded, confused.

That was me.”

Her face went blank.

It took her a long moment to process it.

Then she leaned in, eyes gleaming with wicked

amusement.

So you’re the one who made my brother act like a

dog?”

Seeing my guilty expression, she pinched her thigh

to keep from laughing.

Unfuckingbelievable. That’s my best friend.”

I’m gonna rub this in his face so hard. See if he

ever bosses me around again.”

She cackled, pure evil.

I couldn’t laugh, though.

Not at all.

Back at school, I didn’t reach out to Soren.

I’d never given him a real answer that night.

And he didn’t push.

He was giving me space to think.

Friday night, club social. Everyone was drinking.

Ryan sat right next to me, hovering like always.

It made my skin crawl.

I needed air.

Tried to stand upbut the room tilted.

A thick fog blurred my vision.

Then heat. Sudden, violent heat exploded through

my body.

I knew instantly.

I’d only had one drink. One sip.

Someone had spiked it.

I shook my head, fighting to clear it.

Through the haze, Ryan’s hand clamped down on

my arm.

You okay, Mila? Let’s step outside.”

I nodded, too weak to refuse.

He halfcarried me out, his arm sliding around my

waist.

The unfamiliar smell of his cologne made my

stomach turn.

I tried to pull away.

Just leave me alone. I’ll be-”

I can’t just leave you like this. You look terrible.”

His voice was too casual. Too calm.

There’s a hotel nearby. I’ll grab a room. You can

rest there.”

Something about the way he said it sent ice down

my spine.

Panic surged, but the heat was dissolving my

strength.

I was burning up, sinking fast.

The moment he pulled me against him, I knew I

was in trouble.

I couldn’t fight back. Couldn’t even push him away.

Just as despair closed in-

I heard Soren’s voice. Sharp. Urgent. Calling my

name.

Was it real?

I tried to open my eyes, but everything was dark.

ThenI was wrapped in a familiar scent.

Cold pine. Snow.

My racing heart slowed.

I was safe.
