He Kept Postponing Our Marriage for Her Crises… So I Ended It Myself Chapter 08

“What is it now?”

Julian set the glass down. His voice went flat.

“It was one night in the basement.”

“I’ve let her get away with too much if she can’t even handle one uncomfortable night.”

Ms. Jenkins’s shoulders shook. She wrung the rag in her fists until it was a knot.

“Last night… when I went down with the bedding and the water… she wouldn’t open the door. It was locked from the inside.”

Julian frowned.

“She locked you out?”

“Yes… I called through the door, but she didn’t answer.”

Ms. Jenkins’s voice dropped to almost nothing. “But when I tried the handle… I thought I smelled something.”

She never finished the sentence. The front door burst open.

“Julian!”

Arthur charged in, grabbed Julian by the collar, and slammed him into the wall. “Where the hell is Audrey?!”

Julian wrenched his hands off. “Who let you in?”

“I’ve been calling her all day! She won’t pick up! I called you. Nothing!”

Arthur’s voice filled the room like a detonation. “Audrey is two months pregnant! You locked her up somewhere. If anything happens to her, I swear to God I’ll…”

The color drained from Julian’s face. “What did you just say?”
