Last Life, She Laughed While I Died. This Life, She’ll Cry While I Watch Chapter 04
Dean Taylor rushed into the middle of the crowd. The moment he saw the bruises on my face and arms, he went pale.

“Who did this?”
His voice shook so badly he sounded like he might faint.
The second Mandy realized Dean Taylor had actually come, the fake calm on her face fell apart. She went white, and even her voice started trembling.
“It’s nothing serious… Why did you come all the way here yourself…”
Before Dean Taylor could speak, Zoe and Hailey were already pushing forward.
Zoe pushed forward and shouted, “Dean Taylor, if we hadn’t been looking out for Mandy, Savannah would’ve torn her apart by now!”
Hailey refused to be outdone.
She shot me a sideways look and added nastily, “Exactly. Savannah stays out all night and hooks up with random guys off campus.”
“That would already be bad enough, but now she’s selling herself on campus and dragging the whole school’s reputation down with her.”
The residence hall supervisor stood beside them and nodded frantically.
“Yes, yes, I can testify to that. Savannah has always been full of herself.”
“Mandy is such a sweet, well-behaved girl. Having a roommate like this must have been awful for
her.”
My father was furious. He stepped forward and pointed right at Dean Taylor.
“My daughter was assaulted on your campus. What exactly have you been doing as dean?”
As he cursed, he bent down and helped me up, pain flashing in his eyes.
Then someone in the crowd mocked, “So this is Savannah’s sugar daddy?”
“He came to back her up? Wow, she really isn’t picky. She’ll even sleep with men in their fifties or sixties.”
The moment those words came out, the crowd erupted.
Some people covered their mouths and laughed. Others jeered openly.
“Right? I heard she’ll take anyone, young or old. This old man is probably one of her regulars.”
When Dean Taylor heard that, he could no longer hide his panic. He whipped around and shouted at
the crowd.
“Everyone shut up!”
Then he glanced down at my injuries and said urgently, “Hurry. Get her to the campus clinic. Don’t waste any more time here.”
Seeing how nervous Dean Taylor was, Mandy barely dared to breathe. Her legs went weak, and she nearly collapsed to the floor.
But Logan chose that exact moment to make things worse. He kicked me, cursing under his breath.
“Stop acting. Isn’t your job all physical anyway? A few bruises are nothing.”
His kick landed right on my calf. Pain shot through me, and I let out a muffled groan, nearly losing my balance.
Mandy was so panicked that she screamed at him, “Shut up! Stop talking!”
But Logan did not listen at all. Instead, he grabbed my arm and shoved me hard.
“Am I wrong? You acted all innocent with me, but behind my back, you were this dirty?”
“And now you dare bully Mandy, Dean Taylor’s daughter? You’re lucky she’s fine. If anything had happened to her, not even God himself could save you.”
My father immediately stepped in front of me and roared at Dean Taylor, “Your daughter? Since when do you have a daughter?”
Dean Taylor went rigid. He was just about to deny it when Zoe jumped in first and let out a scornful laugh.
“Dean Taylor keeps a low profile. Just because some country bumpkin like you doesn’t know doesn’t mean it isn’t true.”
By then, Mandy was completely panicking. As Dean Taylor’s face grew colder, Mandy dropped to her knees with a thud and clasped her hands together, crying out.
“Dean Taylor, I was wrong. I really was wrong.”
Everyone froze.
No one had expected Mandy to suddenly do something like that.
Only I knew what had happened.
She had bet that Dean Taylor would never personally involve himself in something like this.
And she had lost.
I forced down the pain and looked up at my father.
“Dad, let’s stop investing in this school’s projects.”
