Once His Toy, Now His Obsession Chapter 04
Melissa believed that Bill would make me suffer a hundred times worse for everything she had done to herself.Â
However, she forgot that I was even more ruthless than she was.Â
Those thugs tormented and beat me, and even nearly sexually assaulted me.Â
I pretended to be overwhelmed by humiliation and jumped off the building. In the end, I was left. gravely injured, my life hanging by a thread.Â
I secretly arranged for someone to deliver the evidence right before Bill.Â
Then, he learned that Melissa orchestrated the whole thing.Â
Melissa had deliberately staged this kidnapping and fabricated the evidence, all to frame me.Â
When Bill saw the real evidence, remorse, rage, and the terrifying fear of losing me eventually engulfed his entire being.Â
At that very moment, the balance in Bill’s heart. tipped irrevocably in my favor.Â
I was in a coma for three days, and Bill knelt by my hospital bed for the entire time.Â
With a hoarse, pleading voice, Bill begged, “Shirley, what will it take for you to wake up? What will it take for you to forgive me?”Â
As my eyes slowly fluttered open, I saw that Bill’s face was filled with anxiety and brimming with guilt.Â
His eyes were puffy and veined with red from exhaustion.Â
A flicker of joy lit up Bill’s face when he saw my eyes open. Then, it was quickly drowned out by deep remorse.Â
With great effort, I reached out and wanted to caress his face. Then, a sharp pain shot through me.Â
I furrowed my brows slightly. Seeing this, Bill immediately grasped my hand anxiously and said concernedly, “Shirley, don’t move. The doctor said you need rest.”Â
With great effort, I managed a weak smile and asked, “Bill, do you know why I love you?”Â
Bill nodded, then shook his head, looking just like a guilty little boy who didn’t know what to say.Â
Looking at him, I said softly, “Bill, you saved me four years ago. Back then, I was so young and naive. My boss framed me and drugged me. If it hadn’t been for you, she would have sent me straight to some nasty man’s bed. If that had really happened, I would have ended my life long ago.”Â
Bill froze, looking as if the memory completely eluded him.Â
Of course, he couldn’t remember because that whole story was a carefully crafted lie I’d fabricated.Â
I had been plotting this for four years. Every move was just to make sure Bill would walk right into my trap.Â
I said, “I fell in love with you the moment you saved me. You didn’t even leave your name. It was only later, when I asked the hotel manage,r that I found out my rescuer was someone named Mr. Borris. From that moment on, the name was etched deep into my heart.Â
“I know you’ve always loved Melissa, and I tried toÂ
let go, but my heart was beyond my control. I never dared to compete with Melissa. I knew I wasn’t worthy. All I wanted was to quietly stay by your side. Even just seeing you was enough to make me happy and content.”Â
Shock flickered in Bill’s eyes as he stared at me, as if he couldn’t believe his ears.Â
I continued, “But you don’t love me. You even despise me. You belittled and misunderstood me time after time, and I endured it all. But Bill, love isn’t bottomless. Now, I don’t love you anymore. Leave. From now on, we’re done.”Â
My voice trembled with emotion, and tears welled up in my eyes.Â
Shock in Bill’s eyes slowly melted into deeper remorse and dread.Â
Bill held me tightly, his voice breaking. “Shirley, I’m sorry. I was wrong about you. I’ll change. Please don’t stop loving me…”Â
“But you’re no longer the Mr. Borris I once cherished, the one who would save me. You forced me into the water just because Melissa said so, even though I couldn’t swim. You gave me to those thugs for one of her staged acts. Do you even know what they did to me? Bill, do you really want to know? Bill froze, his whole body going rigid with shock.Â
Bill pleaded with endless remorse, “Shirley, I don’t want to know. I truly didn’t realize they’d do that to you. I was so terribly wrong. Please, can you forgive me?”Â
The truth was that I wasn’t really hurt at all. Those thugs were just some random goons Bill told his men to hire. However, I’d bought his subordinates off long ago.Â
Actually, the only real injury I suffered was from jumping off the building. It was indeed serious. Everything else was just an act.Â
I said coldly, “Bill, get out. I never want to see you again.”Â
Bill tried to pull me into his arms again, but I pulledÂ
away.Â
Bill pleaded in desperation, “Shirley, you can’t do this to me. I truly love you. I was wrong. I’ll change. Please believe me.”Â
I said coldly, “Bill, just the sight of you makes me sick to my stomach.”Â
Bill’s face turned deathly pale, his eyes brimming with agony and utter despair.
