My Nanny’s Daughter Pretended To Be Me Chapter 06
Alissa led a group of classmates over to me, all putting on their best smiles as they pleaded, “Come on, for old times‘ sake–can’t you just let us off the hook and not make us pay you back?”Â
After being rejected, Alissa immediately started causing a scene, dragging her classmates along as she put on a whole act–shouting, joking around, and trying every trick in the book to get away with it. It wasn’t until the court verdicts were delivered to each of their homes.Â
Fearing this would jeopardize their children’s future prospects, most parents ended up paying the compensation.Â
The next day, when these classmates came to class, each of them was sporting some bruises- clear signs of parental discipline.Â
Checking the payment records, one name still stood out. Elian hadn’t repaid a dime.Â
As I walked up to his desk, before I could say a word, Elian theatrically brushed his bangs aside. and, in an exaggerated tone, said, “I’ve been waiting for you for ages…”Â
With a theatrical flourish, Elian declared, “I’ve had a crush on you since freshman year. But you hid your true identity and made me the laughingstock of the’ class. Do you even realize how wrong that was? Still… I suppose I can forgive you.”Â
I raised my hand, cutting off his melodramatic performance. “Where’s the 800 thousand dollars you owe me? Please pay it back–with interest.”Â
That was right. He got the biggest cut because heÂ
was so good at sweet–talking Chelsea.Â
I never saw Chelsea again after the truth about her being the housekeeper’s daughter came out that day.Â
After coming back from the dead, I’ve developed a sixth sense for danger.Â
To keep myself safe, I spent my entire senior year studying at home with top tutors for every subject. When SATS came around, I didn’t take any chances. -a full security detail of ten bodyguards escorted me to the test center.Â
I aced the entire SATS. Sitting in the car on my way home, I was certain I’d get into a far betterÂ
university than I did in my previous life.Â
Everything was going smoothly until it wasn’t.Â
Suddenly, before I could react, a van speeding the wrong way slammed straight into us. The car came to a screeching halt. My world spun out of control- and then everything went black.Â
The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a hospital bed. My dad had rushed back from overseas.Â
Tears streaming down his aged face, Dad looked at me and choked out, his voice trembling with regret, “Oh Kinsley, it’s all my fault–1 failed to protect you, and I hired that wretched Darien who did this to you.. . I’ve already terminated all my overseas business. From now on, I’ll stay right here by your side!”Â
Seeing the regret on his face, it suddenly hit me. “In my previous life, after I was falsely accused of cheating on the SATS, he also put everything on hold at work and devoted himself to clearing my name. But that single–minded devotion gave our enemies the opening they needed, and in the end, itÂ
destroyed our family.”Â
I immediately pressed my dad, “Dad, are you saying Darien deliberately hit me?”Â
“Yes, his son got into gambling overseas years ago. With our financial support, no one noticed. But after we cut off the money, he couldn’t pay his debts and had his legs broken. Darien blamed you for it. But don’t worry. He’s behind bars now. You’reÂ
safe.”Â
I fell into deep thought. That was not necessarily true. After all, Chelsea and her mother Monica had been completely off the radar for a whole year now.
